I just purchased a snowblower that was driven by a hydraulic motor. The motor is no longer there. I would like to convert it to PTO use. It turns the right way. It is setup to take a 1" shaft with a key.

So, any suggestions on how I should do this?

Did the hydraulic motor run the snowblower at 540 rpm? If it was much higher or lower, you could have a problem much greater than just hooking up the PTO. Have you checked with the manufacturer to see if they make a PTO direct driven model? If so, they might have all the parts you need. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks, I am working that angle now. I don't believe they made a 3pt model.

Find the rpm it was designed to run, then go from there. If that is is.. just get a pto shaft with the appropriate yoke.. shouldn't be too hard to find.

If it isn't the right speed.. you may be looking for a hyd motor and running it off a remote.. or off a pto powerd pump.. etc.

If you have the aux hydraulics, the motor would probably be cheaper than the shaft and u-joints. Probably 50 of them on ebay right now 9.95 to 49.95. Hyd Surplus is another good spot too.
