If you don't know what COOL stands for it's Country of Origin Labeling. I think the time has come that we insist this be implemented.

How does a Toyota get labeled?

This is for food labeling. I think in this day and time one would want to know from what country his hamburger meat, chicken breast or anything else one would swallow down one's goozle came from?

Long over due. This should include all ingredients - not just country where it is "made".

I agree but I was trying to make it as non political as possible.

When the Bill first started out it was fairly good but it has been watered down till it's almost senseless.

Why does it matter what country food comes from?

i suppose its like everything else. there are those that want to support US growers and buy there food.

(would you like some dog food with your melamine? then youd probibly want to know which dog food came from china)

I support COOL.

I will ask all here to take a serious look at the provisions to link the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) to COOL Legislation in the '07 Farm Bill.

Its dangerous stuff.

If you care to, I would ask that all here take a look at the new language in the '07 Clean Water Restoration Act.

Everybody who owns property needs to be informed about this...and take action accordingly.

Not every country has the strict food sanitation requirements we do in the US. Meats and other products that would be rejected and destroyed because of standards in the US might be considered acceptable product to ship in other countries.
Just recall the dog food from China incident of a few months back.
The COOL gives one an option to not take such a risk.
There's not too much government I have use for, but monitoring food and drugs are one of the few good things the federales supply.
