Wow! That's a Pileated Woodpecker! They are extremely rare here; in fact, I can only recall seeing just one, ever. They are huge; big as a crow. I guess we are at the very edge of their range.

We see and (hear!) them quite often around here.

Those of you trying to resize your photos - I've found the easiest way is to use a free software program called "FastStone photo Resizer" and it will do them in batch mode if you have several you want to convert. I'm running FastStone Photo Resizer version 3.1 on Windows 7. There are more recent versions available that can do more than resize a photo.

Alien: that dragon was pretty cool especially for something that had to be moved in a few days.

ALL: anybody else remember hearing red sky at night sailors delight and red sky in morning sailors take warning?

here's a couple pics I saved of a tornado on the Oregon Coast that happened while we were down close to there in 2016. we don't get these very often, but we are getting them and we had one in Port Orchard, Wa about 30 miles from my home a couple years ago.

Ah. I see that now. I was thinking that whole area was water, with a distant shore (looking across a bay, etc). I see now that the water is only on the right.

We see and (hear!) them quite often around here.

We have them along the river behind the house. So far i haven't seen them near the house. I've seen the damage they've done to trees and I don't think I would want them near my house.
