This past Thursday I posted some pics on here of a hawk perched on the handrail of my deck, waiting for an unwary quail to come by. Yesterday afternoon I looked out to see that same hawk devouring a quail on the deck, right there in front of my window. He does a good job...when he was done only a few feathers were left on the deck. The feet, head, backbone...everything else was gone! And again, he didn't mind my taking his picture!

The Russian Olive tree growing near my house has a bumper crop of fruit this year...and the ravens are busy harvesting.

Check out this stash of round bales on a ranch in Diamond Valley, Oregon. Don't see much of that around here...mostly the huge rectangular bales.

Driving through Missouri last Saturday we saw more round bales than we've ever seen. Tens of thousands along the way. None were stacked up like that yet. All still sitting in the fields.
