Awfully rusty for lead stock, but I like the business card / advertising idea. Scratch it in some out of view area with a nail and see how hard it is.

How much does it weigh? If it is less than five pounds or so, I would bet on a door stop to keep interior doors from slamming in a breeze.

All the best,

Peter

Was wondering if it was a brick stamp?
Maybe they baked brick pavers there?

Nah, the letters would be backwards….or?

It does look rusty but looks like it might just be plated somehow. It does look like lead in the upper RH corner, as TShep said and he has more than a picture to go by.

Coolest thing found on my property was a Stone Arrow Head. God knows how old it is. :)

Found newspaper used as insulation when we opened the walls in my uncles front room at his place in MA.
Dated 1860's, but most of the pieces were pretty small.
This was the add on, the kitchen/front room were much earlier, wonder what date newspaper the new owners found when they opened those walls during their renovation?

The front bedroom was also the town library around 1890's to 1920's and still had one of the shelves with books from 1880's to about 1910, all in bad shape but was interesting to us as kids.

I found an old uncovered well on my property. Not all that creepy, but the random junk thrown in the bottom had my mind wondering if I’d find a body or something when I started cleaning it out.

I would get that closed off before something like an animal falls in and starts to smell up the area.

The water is fairly putrid. I’m sure there’s tons of dead squirrels and other critters down there. It seems to have been open for several years.

I threw a piece of tin over it when I took possession of the property. Some day I’ll get it properly cleaned out, shock it, then test the water.

I had a brick lined one dating back to the 1920s (?) in the yard. I quietly had it filled in prior to requesting a deep well permit from the county health department. Contamination concern for the new well.

I suppose that would be a good idea if (1) the parts were interchangeable and (2) the part you need isn't broken on the old one too. When I was single I sometimes kept an old vehicle as a parts car if its replacement was a similar model, something that the family aesthetics officer would frown upon today. :ROFLMAO:

I'm sure there are many of us here who keep a lot of old, broken stuff around "just in case", or as Moss noted "gonna fix it up someday".
Before they redesigned everything every year this was completely possible. Best example is a chevy 350 engine. Only thing I can think of that's similar now is the Honday GX engines, they haven't changed much and use interchangeable parts for the most part.
