On Thanksgiving Day, 1969, my wife bought a 6 pack of 10 oz. Coca Colas (glass bottles). I happened to notice the wrapper from a package of cheese crackers in one of the bottles, so we didn't open it. I called the Coca Cola bottling plant and they wanted to know if one of their drivers could stop by to see it in the evening. I told them that would be just fine, as long as it was before 6 p.m. or after 7 p.m. because I watched the 6 o'clock news on TV. Naturally, the guy was knocking on the door at 6:10 p.m. He told me all about the machinery they had that could never let something like that happen, but when it kicked a bottle out, a person then looked at it and could put it back on the line, so someone must have made a mistake. He then told me he was supposed to give me a compilmentary 6 pack of Cokes, but he was all out and wanted to know if he could come back tomorrow. I told him I didn't think I'd be wanting anymore Cokes for awhile. So, then he wanted to know if he could have the one with wrapper in it, and I told him I thought I'd just keep it for a paperweight. It was sitting on my desk at work for years and I still have it sitting here.

My uncle ran a Sinclair station back in the 60's-70's when they changed over to Arco. He used to inspect all the sodas before he loaded the vending machines. He kept a collection of bottles with foreign objects in them. Coke, Pepsi, RC, Seven-Up, Frosty and a few others I cannot recall right now. He must have had 30-35 bottles on the shelf last I remember looking in 77-78 time frame. They had the gamut of broken glass, barbed wire, chicken bones, a mouse in one, one with marbles. Obviously some of them had been loaded purposefully because the items were not things commonly found in a bottling plant, while others might have been accidental. I am sure the mouse was accidentally inserted (unless you believe the mouse was suicidal).

I've never found any foreign objects in a soda bottle except this one that I have. But being a country boy, I was accustomed to getting up early in the morning, so one morning when I was a kid and visiting an aunt and uncle in town, I was up early and went for a walk and found myself walking down an alley to see what I heard down there and the back door was standing open at the RC Cola bottling plant. I think a guy was taking a smoke break and I asked if I could go in and watch. He readily agreed. But when I saw the nasty water they were washing the bottles in . . . well, I never again to this day have drank an RC.

I saw this online a few days ago - its an 80% AR15 lower.. Pretty interesting and I reckon if you ever decided to you could convert it into a legal lower (with proper registration)

I have a buddy that served in the Phillipines. He had the bottle run back from the base to the only licensed Coke plant. He discovered the reason they have the rule on base that you only drink from clear bottles. The empties were dumped in a pile in the back of the parking lot and kids would rinse them down with water hoses and load the bottle carrier running into the plant. Not even hot water, just plain tap.

I have a little brass and steel naval cannon I made one day in machine shop class in college. Another is one I made is a pen holder. I was in the old college library and found an old metal plans book from the 60's that hadnt been vhecked out since the 80's. It was a 3/4 by 2 by3 inch barstock. THe plans called for it to be brazed all over the top and sides then drilled and taped for a pen holder and swivel socket. Polished it looks like a gold nugget.

I ve also used a fossil rock, 2 inch diameter steely ball that had a flat spotted side.

A friend has a valve out of a 16 cylinder Cat motor as a PW.
Another is a crane operator that had the end of a large hook that was broken off. He says its his lucky hook.

Another friend thats also a mechanic has a timing gear out or a Perkins deisel engine that was chromed.

A Mack Bulldog hood ornament from a retired Mack mechanic.

In a farm magazine once I saw a HUGE cotter pin used as a paperweight.
It had to weigh a pound or more and was probably a 1" diameter. The largest I could ever find was 3/4" and this was bigger.
Right now I use a magnet from an electric brake so I can stick a couple paper clips to it.

I have always wondered why I, as well as other people, even need a paperweight...my home office is in my basement and the nearest window that will open is about 35 feet away, would take one heck of a breeze to even flutter a paper on my desktop. Makes me wonder how many people have an office where they actually NEED such a gadget.....
