You sound like a nice family

I don't know if you were confused about me talking about my dad. But the old man is our neighbor. We just call him that

Had a similar thing happen here recently; the cops stopped at the house across the street, but couldn't get any one to come to the door. They then drove in our driveway, got out and came to the door. I answered, and they wanted to know if there was anyone home across the street. They also showed me a picture of a girl they were looking for and wanted to know if I had seen her. I'm betting your situation was something similar; just looking for information. I suspect if it were something else, you probably would know what they wanted.

The weird part is that the cops didn't come to the door or nothing like that

In My Opinion, unless the neighbor wants to share why they were there, don't ask, if the cops were interested in talking to you that is a different story,

many people live in the country to not have to deal with nosy neighbors, or at least a lot fewer,

there could have been a hundred reasons why they stopped, and most likely few of them concern you,

cops stop to talk on radio or to do paperwork all time, might be good spot to get signal back to get info or to talk to dispatch about next job report or anything...

Happens all time nothing to worry about and if they want a 14 yr old I'm sure they can pick ya up at school (unless ya not been going then ...) :D

Place I'm at now when I stopped to look before I bought 1st inspection cops showed up as they had a 911 call in area & seen cars there. lol... They also had a parole living there newly released & he didnt want to have to move so suspect the call/hangup to 911 may have been attempt at a deterrent to someone (prospective buyer) in my case. Didn't work have owned it since Dec 30 2000... ;) Paid off this next spring whoot...

They probably got the information they needed, and they'll come back around 4AM with a SWAT team for you.....

We don't care about rumors. For Pete's sake we are a bunch of rednecks living in a high end neighbor hood right now. We are going to leave it be for now unless anything else happens. Just curious what you guys think
Well then.....why don't you ask Pete?

Speaking of cops (I think) (sorry to hijack), was driving home from northern VA the other day down I-81. Found one rest area closed with a broke down bus in it. Further along in southern VA, the entire rest area was closed down temporarily, and the entire area was filled with big busses. Cops were around too. I was wondering if it was a huge prisoner transfer or something. VDOT was sitting around too with the temporary signage to close the rest areas.

My guess it that it was you-know-who dumping a bunch of "undocumented workers" on some poor unsuspecting town nearby.

I agree on several points here;

-Don't air your dirty laundry, real or implied, online.

-Your father is the one who should be asking what's going on.

-The best way for him to find out is to ask... although my limited dealings with LEO is that they are better at asking questions then answering them.

I had a very similar situation years ago. I came home after working out of state for several weeks and was told that the Sheriff had sent a deputy out looking for me. I immediately called and asked what was up; they said that the officer would be in touch. That would have been >11 years ago because it was when I was working for myself, and I'm still waiting to hear from him.

My guess is that whatever was going on they had found the guy they were looking for- most likely whoever had given them my name. In hindsight it should have my lawyer calling to ask questions.

Two NHSP drove 800' up our driveway at 1:45am because they'd had a report of a car crash at the corner an hour before. The car was gone.

Interesting investigative technique. I would have looked at the cars in the driveway, and perhaps felt the hood to see if it was warm. Maybe they were lonely.

Had a deputy sheriff come to our house one night to serve a warrant on me. Turned out to be the wrong person. Five of us in the county with the same name. Said he knew he was at the wrong place when my wife invited him in. Anyway he sat and talked for a few minutes with me looking out the windows to see if the neighbors were watching. My daughters were still in school and one of them said something about it would be all over school the next day that the cops had been to our house. So I asked the deputy to turn on his lights and siren and squeal his tires when he left. He offered to put the two teen daughters in the back seat in handcuffs and I could pick them up later but they refused. He didn't turn on his siren but he did turn on the blue lights as he left.

To our great disappointment not one person in our neighborhood called or ever mentioned the blue lights to us.

Yeah, I can't see any reason to do anything about it. They will most certainly look you guys up if they need anything.

From the other side of this subject, it concerns me that society has evolved to the point that this is a topic of discussion. My driveway is a convenient place to turn around and go back to town. Cops turn around in it at least once a month that I know of. I never even give it a thought, other than it reminds me that my taxes are at work and they are out there working.

P.S. My family is very Redneck. :)
