Core Aerator

Landpride is the only aerator I've used. It's ruggedly built and well designed and works like a charm. The problem with the GPC unit you described is that the spoons are welded to a metal drum, making replacement of broken and bent spoons a real maintenance chore. On the Landpride, the spoons are bolted to a sleeve and are easily replaceable. Also... metal and water don't go well together so the life of the drum will be limited. The Landpride uses plastic water tanks mounted to the top of the aerator. On the 5ft model there are two 29gal tanks, which when filled give a gross weight to the aerator of around 1,000lbs.

I probably could have saved money by purchasing a unit like you describe, but I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for". I'm completely satisfied with the Landpride.
