Check out the sitrex fs-150. I own one, great spreader,the same price (approximately). Don't buy the landpride, they rot out very fast and the spreading adjustment is a nightmare! This is not a hate landpride post, i am very happy with thei'r landscape rake,quick hitch & rotary cutter!

I've had one for two years and its seems ok. Had to do a little adjusting to the plates to get them to close all the way. Needed a few taps with the hammer as well.

To use it in the QH I had to weld plates to extend the hole for the top link about 4".

I've used it to spread seed and fertilize a 2 acre area. Also used it to spread dry sand mixed with a little salt on my 500'+ gravel drive.

Unless someone comes up with a reason not to purchase the Cosmo, I guess that it will be the next implement on the Kubota. I need to feed the grass to choke out the weeds and it will be too late too soon. I estimate that it is 6 weeks till we get our first frost, and about 10 weeks before we get our first snow. Bought the Cosmo at TSC this Spring. The spinner at the bottom of the hopper sits directly on the hopper floor. After one use (one acre) the spinner had removed all paint from the hopper floor and was grinding scratches into the bare metal. It looked to me as though it would continue grinding away the floor if nothing was done.

I'm glad to read CTyler and Farmwithjunk are more or less satisfied. I would be interested to hear how the floors of their spreaders are doing. After the paint gets ground away, does the metal floor hold up pretty well?? My unit just didn't look like it would last unless I did something.

My "cure" was to cut a large washer out of a sheet of 1/8" high density plastic and put it between the spinner and hopper floor. That seems to have stopped the wear and tear. I cut the hole in the washer with a "flat" on one side, so the washer turns on the shaft with the spinner. Once you poke around the innards a bit, you'll see what I'm talking about.

It seems to me junkman ther'e are 3 good reasons not to buy the cosmo on this page alone! Her'e is another, the product flows out of the side of the hopper not the bottom, this makes for harder pattern adjustment and cleanout. Landpride doe's not prime before painting, fertilizer + cheap paint = short life!

I've had the Cosmo spreader for a couple of years. When I first mounted it on the 3pt and filled it with seed, the seed ran out in the closed position. Needed a drastic adjustment to close the plates. When spreading alfalfa seed, the seed runs out even in the closed position, so I used a hammer to bend the plates in.

Lastly, don't do what I did...had the 3pt in the lowest position and started spreading, only to find out out the pto shaft bent in half. I forgot to raise the 3pt hitch to the level position.

Otherwise, it's been a good unit.

If we don't count Sitrex spreaders (being sold mainly by First Choice?), the best in "cheap" category spreaders are Cosmo's spreaders which are mainly distributed by Agri-Supply.

If we are talking about cone type hopper spreaders, these two are most popular ones:

Cosmo is more popular (but, this may be due to its lower price?) FC's FS spreaders look better to me.
