Cost of a used 6000W generator

That genny at sears is almost exactly the same as a Troy built genny I bought a Lowes a year ago for 659.00. The only difference is the low oil shutdown. this genny was still 659.00 at Lowes before the hurricanes, have not check on it since.

Hmmm, just went to lowes and that genny now has a 10 hp motor instead of the 11 hp on mine and it is now 699.00 ? Still cheaper than sears though.

If you can find one of these...I think it would be the best deal. I picked it up from a friend who bought it at governmanet auction. He Actually bid on the wrong one, went back and bought the one he wanted and I bought the little one for $400.

It's a 6 KW with a 4K Watt light set up.

Another picture with the boom pole and lights extended (about 25') it is air powered with a small compressor and 120V belt driven motor inside the unit.

It's a 2 cylinder Onan diesel with 3090 hours. It runs great at constant 1800 RPM.

I recently upgraded to a 10,000W welder generator and sold my 5000W (6250 surge) manual pull start 120/240 V generator for $300. It had the low oil sensor and Briggs engine. I changed the oil 2x per year and plug 1x. It was about 3 years old and had several hours use on it (no hourmeter). I had added the wheel kit and handles. I think I paid about $600-625 for the 5K from BJ's Wholesale when I bought it new.

It seems to me that the big hardware stores just get whatever is available at the time.

My brother-in-law bought a nice Generac at Home Depot about a year ago. Now... there isn't a Generac to be found at my two local Home Depot's.

After Hurricane Rita hit us, I had to buy a generator. I bought a Pramac 5000w with a Wisconsin/Subaru 9hp at Home Depot. They had about 6 different one to choose from and the one I bought seemed to be a nice unit for the price. A few weeks later I was there again to look for some other items and found that they had a totally different lineup of generators. Maybe it was just because of the hurricane.

Did the one that you bought have elect. start ?You can add a couple hundred or so for elec. start. This is why the gen. at sears cost more but, like I said B-4 the hurricanes it was on sale for 899

No it did not have electric start, good catch. However it does start wonderfully, has always started on first pull so far. As long as I have remembered to turn the gas on /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Sold!!!!! The 6000W generator was sold to a friend of mine who paid the repairman $85 to fix the "mouse urine in the coil" problem. He paid me $400 for it. Additionally, he's a longtime friend, so I of course discounted it. He's retired and lives alone....so I thought it was fair.
