I’ve seen them gnaw into plastic tubs…
So have I. Cleaning out my parent's property, I found a 5 gallon bucket half full of grain. They had chewed into the top, gotten into the bucket and couldn't get out. I don't dare just dump it as I don't know if it's grain or D-Con.

Gotta store some stuff in my F250 bed out in the barn for a week. Wonder if mice could get into from the floor if I sealed off the tailgate gap along its bottom. Those mice do know their way around my truck, including the glove compartment.
Well, did they?

i have an F350 in a shop type building with concrete floor...they built a nest inside my tailgate. they even filled it with the poison (green) food I had about the building. that stuff kept falling out of a tailgate for awhile.

If their head fits through the opening they can get the rest of their body into whatever.
When I've had a rodent problem in the barn I set up a bucket of water with grain in it and a ramp for them to walk out on. The ramp is just high enough so that they can't reach the grain and end up falling in.
I've had as many as a dozen drowned mice by the morning.
Once they stop getting trapped the grain gets dumped out for the birds.

Because of the on going bird flu, I stopped using the suspended bird feeders and started just making bi-weekly dumps of bird food on the walk ways around the house. This in hindsight was a terrible mistake. It attracted mice from all over that quickly found ways in to the vehicles for nesting. I don't know why I didn't make the connection before hand. But now I'm in a total war with these little buggers.

I read where mice when they move, they leave a constant pee trail behind them.

Nothing beats a supply of Victor conventional mouse traps and a supply of 'Skippy' to bait them with. Many years ago I used to deliver to Victor in Lititz Pa. Old factory in town, terrible loading dock but nice folks.

I buy the original Victors, not the ones with the plastic 'cheese' that are worthless. Just have to be careful when setting the spring bar or you'll 'trap' your fingers and it hurts when the bar smashes down on them.

I cannot put down edible bait as our cats will eat it or the 'loaded' mice and then the poison gets them as well and they are my wife's cats and a happy wife (no dead cats from mouse poison, means a happy life. Amascon has them in quantity, They even sell full cases of them for those that have a huge population.

I don't poison anything, because I might have a weasel hanging around and I like them for eating mice.

Also, I have a crow (I named him Clyde) that's not friendly, but hangs round the yard sometimes.

I don't know if it was mice or squirrels that managed to get inside my 1990 F250. and built a nest inside the heater box. They used pieces of blue shop towels to fully plug the heat and defroster system.. I had to remove the fan motor and fish tubing throughout the system while it as connected to a vacuum to get everything out. I spent the better part of a whole day doing it. I've tried keeping it inside to prevent a repeat episode. Never did figure out where they got in..
