Ah shucks! That's nothing! Now if it had been an aluminum ladder and a lightening storm and he had a kite with a key on the end of a long string- now THAT woulda been worth filming!
Keep searching- you're bound to find something way more dangerous than that out there....

Well, what's the point of the whole setup? It still only gets him halfway up the mast.

If he had any smarts, he would just stand on the ground, lasso one of the blades with a long rope, and let it winch him right up....

Coming back down would be a cinch if he remembered to take a small tarp up with him to use as a parachute....

To me, whats funny is some guys have the Mojo, they are willing to do some pretty dangerous stuff, and never seem to get hurt. While others do things with safety in mind and make trips to the E.R.

If he'd have duct taped a 2x4x8 end wise between the top of the existing ladder and the mast, it would have given him the offset needed to add another 20' ladder to the top. Geez....

BTDT.
Used an extension ladder in the backhoe bucket one time to change out a security camera. Wore a harness and clipped off to the top of the light pole while I did my work. Lowered the camera to the ground with a rope and then climbed back down the ladder. No sweat.

Just can't believe your eyes somedays? :confused2: well I use to do the same stuff like that and never never think twice about doing it. Well as I ease upward age wise, i second guess my self more. When my mom was alive she took a picture of me sitting on the top of a 40 foot utility pole, leaning over the edge putting on a weather head for electric hookup even though the power company would have did it for me and at no charge from the safety of a bucket. Where I come from we use to "GIT-R DONE" no matter what but. . .now I think out before i do cause most likely my gardian Angel 's sense of humor is growing thin. John

I'm asking myself? what kind of service is he having to do by need of only reaching half way up? I would think that any serviceable parts, wires etc, would be located in a panel down low on the base of the mast,
If the propeller itself is in need of servicing I would think the entire mast would be lowered to gain access to the parts, or either a 150 ft bucket boom,

I've seen many photos such as this in occupational safey courses and such but I've always had a problem identifying how this is inherently more dangerous than just using a ladder on the ground. I've always thought, and still do, the loader bucket provides a more secure base for the ladder than putting it directly on the ground which likely is compressible soil. As long as he's tied off up top this method, imo, is likely just as safe and probably safer than using a longer ladder directly on the ground.

That's assuming of course that the bucket doesn't leak down, that could prove to be an exciting predicament.
