No problemo.

Not hard to find the volume of various shapes. As long as they are shapes and not something odd like a rock.

Also not hard to look up the weights of various materials. I do this anytime I question what something weights.

For example: it that chunk were a heavy metal like gold or tungsten, it would weigh in at just over a ton

OR if it was lighter like aluminum, it would weigh under 300#

The cap makes it look like something I saw on a Sci Fi show once. Now I'm going nuts trying to remember which show.

Looks like some kind of antennae, you can beam in the mothership with that thing. I love it when I can use old junk to make something useful. The problem is for every 100 pieces of junk I save I only find a use for one.
