As I said earlier. Can someone please find the cases where a neighbor having an "eye sore" reduced the value of your place? I know an attorney that actually looked for these type of cases. They are very rare.

You won't find law cases that don't exist. No one files a suit because they didn't want to buy a property near an eyesore. You can bet that the pool of potential buyers was reduced however.

He's not very good then... Most cases are small and local.. have him look up 'private nuisance cases'

No but the seller may try to sue the alleged "eyesore" beholder. The people that care about this the most are the rich, snobby type that usually live in neighborhoods full of other like them, so I don't think it is that big of an issue. I have a few neighbors that have a lot of crap laying around, I saw it before I bought my house, and I still don't give a sh*t about it.

As you can see.. most of these are gonna be Small Claims types, or, more likely, Complaints to the Local Autorities due to violations and thus NOT actually a tort case.

I did not read them all but the ones I did are violations of local ordinances, not really lawsuits, and definitely not proof of home value depreciation.

I guess I kind of take this to heart to some extent. Growing up we lived in subdivision of houses with 1-2 acre lots. My dad had a hard time letting go of cars, so we had a few old cars in the driveway. What got me is that the county came by a few times (because of complaints) and said that these cars had to have current registration. A car is an object, if you are not driving it, why does it need to be registered? And why can't you own a car that you are not driving? He could have just as easily had old tractors out there or a pile of toasters, could they say that the toasters need to be registered. My dad was stubborn so he went out and got the registrations up to date, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. I didn't necessarily like the cars being there, but I liked less that the county could tell him that. The worst part is that we lived there longer than about 80% of the current homeowners, so if they didn't like it why did they move in?
