Cover Your Tractor

I just ordered this from Meijer for $166 including delivery.

King Canopy II 12x20-Foot Canopy*|*Meijer.com

I am hoping to build a garage by summer of next year, but in the mean time $166 to keep the snow and rain off of a $25K investment is a no brainer.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I've had one of those through 2 MD winters. You'll hate it. You need to go out and broom all the snow off of it every 4", or it will bend. BTDT.

The other, barn style, may hold up better under snow loads, but not this style.

I have a 14Wx22Lx10H garage in a box, I forgot what I paid for it. It came from the place in Conn, West Haven I believe. It has withstood 70 mph winds and 2ft snowstorms with no issues for 3 winters. With the ROPs up.. I can just fit through the top of the door way. If I have the canopy on.. then it hits, but being fabric, it just moves out of the way. I store my tractor and about 2 cord of firewood in it. It is easy to roll up the door, give the clean tractor a few minutes to warm up, then head out with the rear blade down clearing snow. :) I will admit that the wife is a bit shorter than me and has a little trouble getting the door open enough so that the ROPs does not hit.

I am going to try to keep the snow from getting too heavy on the canopy and I also came up with this idea to reinforce the roof span by effectively turning the span into a truss with some ratchet straps. I hung some reminder rope in my line of sight so I don't drive out without removing them. The current forecast is for 3" to 8" today and into tomorrow.

Good luck, ours was open to the winds and didn't make it more than a couple of months, snow is not a problem here.

How hard is it to drop your ROPS?

The straps are a good idea.

Let us know how it works out.

The tractor is new, so I first tried to drop the ROPS, but the pins are very stiff and the hinge seems stiff too. I think I need to ream the holes with a drill bit and maybe lube the pivot, but that can wait until the spring. I can't wait to get a permanent garage built.
