Hello to all;
I started this thread in deference to all in the Good Morning thread to keep covid crap out of that thread.

It's been an interest week+ for me. My grand daughters day care got closed down for covid last week.
My daughter had her and her daughter quick tested on Friday and they both came back negative. As she and her husband work
they asked if I would baby sit part of last week, I said I would so I babysat for Monday-Wednesday, the father had arranged
a day off for Thursday and was going to watch the girl that day. Thursday my daughter tested positive for covid, both
she and her husband had been vaccinated. As have I and my wife, me with some misgivings about the vaccine.

Friday evening I wasn't feeling normal getting some feverish flushes and just off my feed a bit, so I went and got tested.
Never heard back on my quick test Saturday.

But I did hear from NYS Contact tracing that because I had been in contact with someone that tested positive I had to quarantine
for 10 days the 6th thru the 16th.

Got my PCR test results Sunday the 10th negative, no covid. Interesting and I was feeling fine also, must have had some 24 hr bug.

Then I'll be damned if Monday (today) I don't get another call from Contact tracing and an email from Washington County Health Dept.
They think that they will extend my quarantine for even longer until the 20th even with a clean test.
Here is the e-mail letter I got today, after I had explained that I had a negative test.

Precautionary Quarantine Consent Agreement

of: Louis -----------

2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)) is an infection associated with fever and sigs and symptoms of pneumonia or other respiratory illness, appears to be transmitted from person to person predominantly through droplet transmission and, if spread in the population, could have significant public health consequences.

On March 7, 2020 New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a State of Emergency across New York State in response to increasing numbers of diagnosed 2019-nCoV cases in the state. The New York State Department of Health subsequently issued movement and monitoring guidance for asymptomatic persons with potential exposure to 2019-nCoV.

Reason for Quarantine:
Upon execution of this consent agreement, the parties agree:

1) I will quarantine myself at ** ******** **, Greenwich, NY, 12834 and will not leave the premises through the quarantine period of 2021-10-06 through 2021-10-20.
2) I agree to comply with NYSDOH’s and the Washington County Public Health Nursing Service requests for information related to my health status and to cooperate with monitoring of my health through the end of the precautionary quarantine period.
3) The Washington County Public Health Nursing Service will keep this agreement confidential, consistent with law.
4) I understand that my compliance with this agreement is essential to keep the 2019-nCoV from spreading to others, and that if I fail to abide by this agreement, Washington County Public Health Nursing Service may impose directives designed to ensure that 2019-nCoV does not spread to others.
5) I acknowledge and represent that I voluntarily and knowingly enter into this Consent Agreement.

This I received after telling her that Cuomo had no authority to issue such an unlawfull and unconstitutional order,
especially as I had gotten a negitive test result.
I also told her that no I was not agreeing to or consenting to any such agreement.

While I was willing to be very careful of were I went and what I did and to even wear a mask when out and about,
this to me is completely absurd and over reaching by bureaucratic twits.
So, No I am not complying with this. Yes, I am wearing a mask when I go out around people.
And I am avoiding one of my brothers who has cancer and has had stem cell transplants and is still on chemo-theraphy
with no immune system. When I dropped of some parts the other day I put the package down and we stood about 30 feet apart to talk
with me wearing a mask.

I know a few who were not tested for lack of symptoms, then got a first shot. Apparently it was too late to prevent infection by then and symptoms blossomed. My concerns are that those of us who got the vax may still be carriers, but also that instances such as I mentioned may skew some statistics regarding the effectiveness of approved (or denied) meds.

And a second post on this,
This is copied from the Warren County Health Dept.s website.
My daughter and son in law live in Warren County.

October 10, 2021

43 new cases, 66 recoveries over weekend

Warren County Health Services reported 13 additional COVID-19 cases on Sunday, along with 40 recoveries. On Saturday, 30 cases and 26 recoveries were confirmed.

Health Services is monitoring 256 active COVID cases as of Saturday, 243 of them involving mild illness.

Six (6) are hospitalized, unchanged from Saturday. One (1) is in critical condition and five (5) others have moderate illness. Seven (7) are moderately ill outside of the hospital.

All of Sunday’s new cases involved community spread of COVID-19. Four (4) involved individuals who had been on Warren County public school campuses. Find details on school cases here: School Report.

The surge in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks appears to stem from workplace contacts, household contacts, youth sports and indoor events.

Warren County Health Services asks that event organizers incorporate COVID-related precautions into their plans amid the ongoing surge of infections. Please call Health Services at 518-761-6580 for more information.

Six (6) of Sunday’s cases involved individuals who had been fully vaccinated. Cumulatively as of Saturday, 552 of 43,751 fully vaccinated Warren County residents have tested positive for COVID-19. To date, 517 of 552 had mild illness, while 23 became moderately ill, two (2) seriously ill and one (1) critically ill before recovering. Nine (9) passed away, all of them elderly with extensive health issues, five (5) of them at one nursing home.

As of October 8, Warren County’s breakthrough cases break down by vaccine as follows – 253 Pfizer, 171 Moderna, 75 Johnson & Johnson/Janssen and 20 unknown.

From Washington County were I reside;

CASE STATUS IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

Currently, our Washington County Public Health professionals continue monitoring a number local residents (statistics shown below) who either reported close contact with a subject testing positive for COVID-19 and quarantined, or were tested accordingly for COVID-19.

COVID-19 CASESPERSONS UNDER MONITORING
CONFIRMEDRECOVEREDDECEASEDACTIVERELEASED
4,1033,8974872712,231

These numbers certainly don't add up unless released are the number of negative tests.

Seventy new COVID-19 + cases were added / processed over the weekend (Friday - Sunday), there were sixty-nine new recoveries of active cases, seven current cases are hospitalized. Our Public Health and contact tracing team continue to work through the investigations of these new cases, identifying thirty-two of the seventy new cases with ties to other cases / investigations (including household spread cases, workplace spread and other school and/or community activities) and the remaining thirty-eight cases have no identified origin of exposure at this time. Of the new cases added, sixteen had been fully vaccinated (eight received the Pfizer series, five received the Moderna series and three received the J&J single dose).

And the county doesn't even follow their own guidelines.

I guess the common misconceptions are that the shot is a vaccine. It is not. The shot will prevent Chi-com flu. It will not. The goal is to reduce the severity of the infection or give your immune system a greater chance to fight the infection off if you are exposed to it. Nobody really knows the long term effects of the Chi-com flu or the shot. It will not go away. Ever. We still have the "Spanish flu" of a hundred years ago with us, it has simply modified itself over time to something less deadly. The government will keep up the fear factor and control as long as they can. "Fear is the foundation of most governments." - John Adams

I had the "A" or original variant of the Chinese Covid-19 in 2020. I got the shot(s) (Pfizer) This year as the Delta variant rampaged thru here. I have not had the Delta variant so far. Some friends had the Pfizer shots and ALSO had the Delta Variant about 6 months after taking the shot(s). Several studies have now concluded that natural immunity is up to 27 times better than the shots alone.

But I don't know if having the first variants natural immunity protects against other variants or not. The government and that little murderer Fauci doesn't even want to talk about natural immunity at all. So we are somewhat in the dark.

The number of cases in this area has made a dramatic drop in recent weeks. AND it is not because more people are getting vaxed. We are still way behind on Vax uptake as many still refuse the shot in this State.

I think it is because it is so many people have had Covid 19 that natural immunity breaks the transmission chain.
But what do I know, I am not a doctor, and don't even play one on TV.

The whole bloody thing is such a mess; how in the world can we not know after almost two years what exactly Covid is? I have my two shots, it was no big deal; and I really don't care if someone else doesn't want shots. What I want is our lives back before Covid; when I could still buy a tractor and ammo, work at work and not at home, and go wherever the h ell I pleased. Only government could screw this up so bad...

Quite the ordeal, Lou. Sorry you are having this challenge.

Fully vaccinated with the Moderna shot, awaiting the booster go ahead. Not that I believe it prevents actually getting Covid, but surely mitigates the severity.

Getting the shot is an individual choice, I respect that. I also respect that we are a community and being unvaccinated contributes to the spread. Most likely, in my opinion, contributed to the variants making it stronger and thus the vaccinated more susceptible.

I do not believe in getting the shot being mandated except as last resort. Shouldn’t have to. Sure is plenty of factual data available, readily available to anybody with one eye/ear open. Not getting the shot is pretty selfish, and can be interpreted as “I care about ME, I don’t really care about family, friends, or really anyone else regardless of any words I may spout”.
PLEASE Don’t be mixing in the community endangering others, especially the kids.

Businesses & Employers should be free to decide how to handle, just make their policy public, then it is our choice to support or not.

As I said, personal decision/choice, not mandate. But there can/should be encouragement and consequences. Don’t want the vaccination, then don’t accept any Covid related benefit. Return any stimulus dollars, unemployment compensation plus up, rent relief, IRS child care, basically any Benefit Covid related. IRS has the info, sign verification of the shot next tax or pay it back.

If that doesn’t work, extend withholding of any tax dollar benefit pending full vaccination, SNAP, Medicaid, any tax credit, or any tax payer funded benefit. And that includes anyone in your household eligible for the vaccine.

I bet it would be amazing how beliefs are tied to a pocketbook.

Of course, we should honor any valid medical or religious exemption. Valid to mean by your current doctor treating your condition and any religion that has publicly stated its validity. Internet practitioners offering exemption in exchange for contribution/donation/fee not acceptable.

I’m not a social media person, but if any here are and wish to spread my suggestions I hope you do.

Pretty clear to me, that the rules posted above have more impact on those being responsible than the self centered spreaders.

I have 13 co-workers who are off work and positive for Covid today. 10 of the 13 are fully vaccinated. Seems to be quite common locally.

It is tough talking about the response to covid without going POL****** as the response was POL****** from the very beginning. I hope the human race learns from this before the next pandemic.
