I had to laugh when I saw your title and the cows in a pond. If they were smart at all they would not pee in the water they drink.

Of course when I was a kid we went swimming in the same ponds and had cowpie fights in the water (but they were dried pies, too hard to throw them otherwise).:confused2:

They are black.
Black collects heat.
They are seeking temperature regulation.
Be glad you have the pond... without it, in this extremely hot and sunny Texas weather you could have cows in heat stress/stroke/dead ... it happens ... shade or water is critical this time of year.
