I have been messing with this satoh s370d for 3 months. I got it at an auction with loader and rear blade fir $675. I dont know the year or how to find out the year and they didnt either. The tractor sat in a field long enough for the wheels to get buried 1/3 of the way. The only time i have gotten it to start it was over 60 deg out using wd40. Compression was at 300 and 280. I replaced the pistons(1 had a broken ring groove) now compression is at 350 but should be higher. Question, I have been told that if someone used starting fluid it could have cracked the head. Will a cracked head cause low compression? When i have had it running it wasnt mixing oil and antifreeze.

If it’s not mixing oil and water, blowing bubbles in the radiator or burning water the head probably isn’t cracked.

It probably has glow plugs, do they work? Is the fuel system and fuel clean? Do the injectors atomize fuel?

you didn't mention if the glow plugs work. This engine needs to be glow plugged to start.
