Update as I've been away from this project for awhile now. Ended up putting in new pins, bushings, seals, tipping links, etc on the dipper arm of the excavator. Tracked down new bearings to press in on each end of the thumb cylinder. Was actually using the excavator for a while with the thumb off of it.

Got the cylinder painted, seal kit installed and fitted it back over the weekend. Everything checked out great in the shop so I went out to move some small rocks in the pond spillway. About 3 minutes into it, I blew a main hose for the thumb, up on top of the main arm, covered in a big spring to protect it. It never fails. Shut of the thumb, lower the arm to inspect the hoses. The left upper main hose has been replaced, it's a Gates with a bright green stripe. The hose that blew on the right appears to be the original and was badly cracked and dry rotted. My fault for not catching it but it is all covered up inside that spring.

Got a new hose made up and installed. Need to top of the hyd fluid and get back in action.

Ended up putting in new pins said:
I own a Kubota KX41 excavator and would like to replace the pins and bushings of the bucket, bucket cylinder, and the links. I have priced Kubota parts, but that is not economically feasible.
Are there after-market parts for a reasonable price?

Having just helped a friend do a similar pin/bushing job on his JD backhoe we found that some of the parts were reasonable and some not. The ones that were reasonable we bought; the ones that weren't we made ourselves. Most of the materials used came from McMaster Carr where you can order pin and bushing material by dimension and alloy. Fabricating some pieces required using basic machine shop tools.

I don't know of a less expensive way to do this than to just do it somehow yourself. I've heard of some vo-tech sponsoring co-op do-it-yourself shops. There's one of those in a nearby city. That's an option I guess....

There are companies out there who make generic pins and bushings. Since they may not have specs for your machine be careful on getting correct specs in size and metal needs. I bought set of pins for my bucket few years back and the company went out of business between the time I ordered them and paid them and they shipped. Credit card company finally made refund. Look for local machine shop for the pins and depending on type of bushings local machine shop or might be standard bushings you can buy over the counter.
