If he wanted the homeless guy to get a muffin he should have bought him one. Could Cracker Barrel handled it differently? yes. Five warnings.....I believe they gave him enough chances.

I'm piling on here. At first I knew there had to be more to the story as I frequent CB while on the road and like their customer service. He's been caught 5 times so how many times has he done similar things.

If he wants to give stuff away, then he should pay for it. 5 warnings was plenty.

Cracker Barrel is right up there with Wally world. I don't give my business to either.

First off, if they have caught him 5 times, and they reported that, he may have a cause of action to sue them for making that statement to the public

Second, I probably will not eat at CB any more

Look at Panera Bread Company...they have select stores where you eat and pay what you can...if you have extra..you pay it forward so someone who has no money can eat and they are asked to work an hour or so....I think CB missed a PR opportunity and now it's a PR nightmare for them...Old Vet should have paid for what he gave away absent corporate policy to be charitable....

The terminated employee brought up the infractions, which apparently he was wrong about. One could argue that the former employer was only setting the record straight due to mis information given to the public by the terminated employee.

As mentioned, if the former employee wanted to give something away for free, all he had to do was buy it.

As I said, he MAY have cause, its all in how a court looks at the whole of the story.

In my experience most employers would steer away from a statement like that as far as possible.

Either the manager who made the statement is not very experienced or they are more scared of the story than they are a lawsuit!
