Craftsman Ride On Lawn Tractor Wont Start

Can you take a picture of the back of both switches ( old and new) . That way we can compare the two. Must have wires reversed . The wiring diagram shown above shows only harness's so that doesn't do much good if you're trying to trace individual wires.

And just because the back of both switches have the terminals labeled in the same location doesn't mean they are the same internally.

Very true. That's where you gotta start checking what they do.

Im not sure if you can see on the picture, but both switches have the letters marking the terminals in the same place IMG_2860.JPGIMG_2861.JPG

The new switch is not quite the same as it has a lamp energized icon for where the run in reverse mode was on old one.

I have the same tractor. Did you try buying an exact match to the oem switch part # for your tractor. Should be plug and play. I disabled the no run in reverse mode without switching to run in reverse setting on ign switch by unplugging a relay if I remember correctly.

Mine has 360 hrs on it bought new '07/'08 . POCrap but with stout tranny I keep it running as its light in weight and cuts my zoysia nice and pretty. Kubota I have is too heavy and eats up turf in turns.

I agree that the switch is different.

Bought mine new spring of 08 have 959 hours on it. My yard is a mix of woods, rough ground and lawn. Mostly routine maintenance. Very satisfied how it has held up.

I agree with ejnichol. It's definitely showing the key positions are doing something different even though the letters on back are the same. I'd try to get an identical switch and start from there. Or get a multimeter and figure out the new switch versus the wiring on the plug. Not sure that switch will even work with that configuration.

Funny same switch as on my JD L120 with Briggs and Stratton, first position from off lets mower run with lights turned on...

Second position is "run" only, third position is start....

Though icons on switch are different, I will bet both function same....

And if harness uses a ganged plug, I don't see how wiring could be messed up unless one pulled all the wiring out of the socket...

Keys are universal on low end lawn/garden tractors.... Only one design.... One key fits all..... Same with my MF GC1715 and DJ L120, lost keys, get generic one from anybody who stocks them....

The switch in question if it is a 193350 is a universal switch that fits may tractor brands, if you ordered it by part number all connections should be same....

Bet this diagram will help....
