I picked up a 8 foot cultipacker for $100 today. I was pretty happy about it. The guy said he had about 2 dozen calls in the first 2 hours. I was about ready to bite the bullet and buy a 5' for $500 too.

Wondering some of the deals you all got from craigs?

Every week I find several rusty, beat up implements priced 80% or more of new.

And trailers made from water pipe and bed frames for $600-800.

Keep watching. I find lots of good deals all the time. 5' King Kutter in great condition $450. A Big Ox 4' box blade (I think), anyhow it was $300 and had all the rippers and hardware.

I look through the ads twice a day. Yeah, it's a bad habit...

Use SearchTempest to search a wider area for what you're looking for:
SearchTempest Online Classifieds Search - All the Classifieds. One Search.

Just be patient. A lot of stuff shows up as long as you're willing to wait a bit. And keep looking.

My biggest problem is a few brief moments of indecision, in which the best deals are snapped up before I decide that I really want it.

Used equipment can be a bit beat up though :yuck: And sometimes sellers wait till you arrive with the vehicle and trailer to let you know that it needs a little "tune-up".

I have had great luck selling and buying on CL. Just bought a agrimetal bw300 PTO blower the other day for $1200 bucks. The paint is a little faded but other than that is in great shape. New they are about $4500 without tax.
Then I just sold my JD 145 lawn mower on CL for $1400. It was in great shape but I couldn't believe the amount of calls I had just because it had green paint. People didn't even really now the difference between it and other JD models.

Yep...can find gold or crap...its all out there! I've had good luck selling on craigslist, and have purchased items from there too. Just be on look out for the inevitable scammers!

That seems to be about 90% of craigslist in my area. There are a few good deals out there though. But you have to act fast on them.

If you dont check c-list for a few days, there is no point in looking past the first page cause all the good deals are snagged up and everything after the first page is overpriced.

Yep, if you see a deal don't hesitate to call. I picked up a 3 point 16" single bottom trip plow with coulter last spring for $100. I check the farm and garden section daily for items on the want list. If I'm heading to another area I'll also check that areas CL for possible finds. Seems like sooner or later what I'm looking for pops up.

Have to say CL has been good to me. 4 ft tiller $500, one row cultivator $50, manure spreader $300, trailer $50. 100 gal fuel tank $80. And sold my Subaru with 300,000 miles in one day for way more than I thought I would get.

Prices can be all over the place.
The bad ones are when a person is asking 150% of "new". Although perhaps saving assembly work is worth a bit.

It depends a lot on the person selling, and I guess buying too.

I usually only buy stuff if the asking price is what I want to pay. Usually I don't bargain too much, and on occasion I've even rounded the price up as a buyer!

I found a person with a want-ad asking for a very specific wheel that I had and didn't need, nor had anything that it fit on. I wrote back saying to send me an offer, and "lowballing" was OK.
I got a reply today, but without an offer. :p Anyway, I have no doubt that we'll come up with a price that he can't refuse, and I'll have one less tire & wheel in my way.

I have done really good on Craigslist but like everyone else you have to be patient and then jump when the deal is there...
I bought 2 excellent air compressors for less than 50% of retail and a very nice 2 bottom plow and 5-1/2' disc harrow on there...
I was lucky that I was within reasonable driving distance...
I look on there everyday...

42" Woods rotary cutter was one of my good finds. Also, a set of new take-off wheels/tires for less than a new set of tires for my truck.

Eight foot Fisher plow with wings $650 as discribed. Now I'm looking for a set of 8ft disk harrows.

Glad I am not the only one. If there is something in particular I am after I will use searchtempest and search the whole state

I didn't list all my finds:
Jd 10p yard cart = 50
Single bottom 3pt plow = 100
3 point 2 bottom jd trip plow = 300
Nearly new jd lx5 = 600
Jd 950 4x4 loader ps 800 hours = 7000 (sold it for 8500 with lx5)
King kutter disk (like new) = 250

I check cl with an app on my phone at least 5 times a day. Gotta love saved searches.

Now I'm looking for a 5' tiller and phd.

I try to whatever I need off of CL first....its hit and miss, but I've found some good buys.

/ craigslist finds #18
Olathe model 83 & 93 4' slit seeder for $100.00. Needs some tlc, but for $3500.00 difference, I can do some wrenching.

I've bought some deals off of CL but you have to check it often and move to get it. I've seen some good deals on tractors lately in my area. I figured the economy had people selling.

I keep finding things on there that I wasn't looking for,but just can't pass up- I just got back with 260' of 1/0 welding cable ($200)
Last year I lucked into a brand new Ruggerini 15hp diesel motor for $250-haven't decided what to use it on yet,but couldn't pass it up.
Most the time someone beats me to the good stuff.
