Craigslist purchase gone wrong, any ideas?

I do not have a pic of my yard rake on my BX so I just found a box blade pic and drew on it. The red is where you make your connections (lift arms and top link to attachment) outside the tabs. The green is the pins through the tabs.

You may need to hit a tractor supply and purchase some long pins but it should work. Small tractors sometimes require some different thinking...

Yeah, I think I can get it there, but I'd probably have to wait since there'd be no way to take it out and then put it back in unless there were at least 4 guys there to lift it.

If you find the right welder you will be able to leave it. When I had my bucket hooks welded on, the welder unloaded it and reloaded it into my horse trailer using a tractor. Just find on that has a tractor, forklift or other way to unload/load it. (You might want to load it into you truck on a pallet)

IMHO the best overall fix will be to reweld the tabs.

Pushing_Tin, Take your pics to a weld shop & set up a time when you can wait while he cuts & welds. An hour would be a long time to cut & weld two tabs. MikeD74T

Sorry for the lack of replies, I'm at work tonight.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for your feedback! I really appreciate having a forum like this where I can learn, I only wish I was as helpful as you all are.

The plan for now is to have a local welder come to my house with his equipment. He said it would be an easy job for him to do. He's coming out on Monday, not sure if that's just going to be an estimate, or the work itself. I was thinking $50-$75 would be more than fair for this job, or is that too cheap? The only thing is......I found him on Craigslist! :confused2:

I will post an update when the issue is resolved.

I would use a draw pin with a threaded end long enough to fit through both of the tabs on the blade and cut a spacer out of 1" pipe that would fit between the tabs. That would be much stronger than bolting the draw pin to just one of the tabs and would be cheaper than having a welder come out.

I would expect the welder will do the work when he shows up. $50 sounds fair since he has to come to you. He will not take him long -- 20 minutes or so if he's organized.
