CRAMMING

After reading and article in the readers digest I have instructed my Mom to use these EXACT words and say nothing else, absolutely nothing else, do not answer any questions. I have it written down by her phone.

"Please put me on your do not call list."

It works, no sales pitch they immediately stop and say OK. If they ask why (and none have so far) the second answer is "Because I want you to put me on your do not call list"

Please everyone let your elderly parents know and use it yourself!

I have used it about 6 times in the last 6 weeks and they end the conversation immediately and do not call back. If you just hang up on them they will call back, if you argue with them they call back.

Mom has used it twice and says it works perfectly for her also.

I got the "IRS is suing you" scam call today. A recorded voice saying to call this number ...

I think scammers, and especially those that prey on the elderly, should be treated like horse thieves were; string 'em up now. Or maybe more appropriate, cut out their tongues.

Had a family member get the "this is Microsoft calling, your computer is infected" call today. Fortunately, their credit card company refused the charge and they got suspicious when the guy said "just tell them to release it, don't tell them what its for"
Spent most of an hour making sure nothing was left behind.

Not user I understand what happened to your mom.
If she was changed to another Long Distance carrier, that's called SLAMMING. If this happened she should be able to just change back.
CRAMMING is when they add other items to your bill.

In either case, it shouldn't happen.

They just crammed a new bill to her old bill and added a new long distance carrier on top of the old one, FCC and phone compaany call it cramming.

My wife called the cramming company and they said they were calling moms phone company on a 3 way call with my wife. First some music came on and then a woman said this is ___________ phone co. the problem was my wife had been on the phone with the phone co that morning and knew what to expect. They had set up a call to someone pretending to be the phone co trying to con my wife. My wife got my cell phone and called the phone co and put both phones on speaker and had a 3 way call of her own. God blessed me when he gave her to me. Still a mess but could be worse. Ed

These type of folks are the lowest of the low.

Its got to the point where my grandmother (95) always looks at caller ID. If it isn't a family member she does not answer.
