I was impressed with them not tearing the paper underneath. If it wasn't radio controlled, I'm guessing at the very least he has a camera mounted on the boom somewhere, or it could be a matter of automating the angles as he moves up the roof. The angles should be constant.
I guess thats what float is for?

The boom is not close to parallel with the roof - he was constantly correcting the height. At the end of the video it looks like he may have had a line of sight up the roofline. Good eyesight or binoculars.
I saw a wireless video camera/monitor at Sam's made for RVs and it made me think about putting one on the loader. They are pretty common on the tall warehouse forklifts. We just need the racecar version with the self cleaning lens.
The operator made a couple of comments on Youtube. I don't think he had a remote.
