I'm looking at how you mounted your seat to the OEM hinged pivot. It looks like you just used 4 small sheet metal screws into the bottom of the new seat... do you think that will las long term... ? I think the bottom of the seat is just plastic..
No screws used; I agree - that would be weak. They look like screws because of the phillips heads but they are in fact the bolts that came with the new seat. They also look like screws because I decided to not use the metal spacers that go on the corners between the seat bottom and the long steel plate that goes from left to right under the front of the seat.
The spacers provide room for the washers and nuts that were intended to be used for tightening the plate to the slide channels via the long slots in the plate. I didn't use the slide channels but I did use the nuts, lock washers and bolts (with the phillips heads). The lock washers and nuts are hidden in the picture pushing up slightly into the fabric of the seat bottom. I left the spacers out merely to keep the seat level as low as I could.
The steel plate - the one with the two long slots - is I believe 1/4 thick and with the 4 bolts going through it gives a very sturdy build. I have no doubts that it will hold up.
