New name for lake - Snakey Lakey! Heheheheh... I tell you one thing, Eddie, I have learned over my many years of fishing southern waters, mainly Georgia - where there are snakes, there are fish! Especially water moccasins for some reason - them and bass seem to like the same areas of water. I've caught many a bass right near snakes. Even caught a moccasin one time fly fishing! Almost yanked the old boy right into me lap on the backcast! Rascal came flying almost into the boat!

As for moving on - whew, not just ponds, but everything to do with land, house, etc. is on-going! Remember one of our mottos - using small tractors to move the earth one bucket full at a time... Man, ain't that fun!

Man I am glad we dont have snakes like that here:laughing:

Aw, snakies just help keep down the rats and other undesirables... I have waded in places - swamps, creeks, etc., that you wouldn't believe - just make enough noise to scare them away. I am careful and always keep a watch out, being raised where I was, one learned young how to watch for the long slithery little critters. Eddie, looks like you got a good start on your snake population at Lake Maribou...

After putting this off for too long, and really not knowing what I want, or even what I'm looking at, I decided to go with the picnic table out of Texas. It's a bit lighter, but I think a better design. If it falls apart on me, then I'll know to get the other brand, or spend the big bucks on something else. I paid for it today and will post pics when it gets here and when I put it out on my dam.

That looks like a good, sturdy table .... of course, a little time with your "Bacon Buddie" and you'll be able to figure out if you need to cast the next one out of concrete ...

T

It's getting towards the end of May and I'm still almost 2 feet low. Either I get a bunch of rain real soon, or the summer heat is gonna be interesting.

Amazing with the vast weather differences in the US....I know at least in Ohio, we are getting rain rain rain for the last several months. A local bridge that we use was closed for over a month due to being underwater.....
hope you get some rain before summer!

P.S. Keep the posts coming.

We're at least 2ft down from where we should be. There was an article in the local paper that because we've not had our usual amount of English piss poor weather, the water table has dropped - from their measuring point they'd expect it to be 2ft at the moment... instead it's 3 inches... :(

I think you've been getting our leftovers.:D

Our weather is finally starting to improve, so maybe yours will soon as well. Still raining here, but not like it has been for the last year.:confused2::confused2:

Yessir....it is definitely dry around The Old Goat Ranch...

HOW DRY IS IT....?

So dry the birds are building their nests out of barbed wire.

So dry the Baptists are sprinkling and Methodists are spitting.

It's so dry that the Catholics are giving rain checks.

So dry the catfish are carrying canteens.

So dry the trees are bribing the dogs.

Its so dry here that the fire hydrants are chasing the dogs around.

So dry my duck forgot how to swim.

It's been dry so long we only got a quarter inch of rain during Noah's Flood.

So dry I'm spitting cotton.

Dry as a powder house.

Dry as the heart of a haystack.

Dryer than a popcorn fart.

It's so dry that the cows are giving evaporated milk. (variation: So dry the cows are giving powdered milk.)

It's so dry the fish are knocking on the door, askin for a drink of water.

It's so dry here the all the fish have ticks.

It's so dry you'e only permitted to eat watermelon between 8pm and 8am.

It's so dry the government has announced a water pistol buy back scheme.

It's so dry, crooks are siphoning off radiators instead of gas tanks.

It's so dry, they*e encouraging people to pee in the pool.

It's so dry, all the Baptists are converting to Catholic.

It's so dry, the the dogs are marking their territory with chalk lines.

It's so dry they had to close two lanes at the swimming pool.

It's so dry the river only runs twice a week.

So dry we*e fishin on lawn chairs with slingshots.

It's so dry we went rafting on hand trucks.

So dry the water tower was held up at gunpoint.

Yessir....it is definitely dry around The Old Goat Ranch...

I bought the frame over the weekend and UPS delivered it on Tuesday. The packing and instructions said that everything was inclued except the wood, but I was missing the 8 lag bolts to attach the seats. I had some laying around, so it wasn't a big deal. Just annoying that I paid for them, but didn't get them. I didn't contact them and ask for the bolts, so I don't know how they would have responded.

It went together real easy, but the instructions are based on some copied color pictures. I hate those types of instructions because they are so dificult to see and figure out.

It seems like a good design that should do the job, but it's also kind of thin and they barely welded it. I'm not impressed and wont buy another, but don't really know if this one will hold up or not.

I cut, sanded, primed and painted the boards a dark brown that I have on my trim of my house. It looks real nice.

I have right at $200 into it, so for that much money, it's going to be hard to go wrong on it.
