Why? I’m in WA and I don’t recall humid days at all.
You are on the dry side, lucky dog. Until summer comes
Our 1 day of summer beats all.

Those people might want to start burning soft wood, you get more snap crackle pop out of soft wood. My son has bee burning mostly cedar labs and buttons from his shingle mill and that snaps crackles. I burn sawmill slabs in my garage, hemlock and pine and that snaps an crackles, hardwood not so much.
The first pic is what the wood looks like when first brought in Oct, sec pic is tonight before I add water :scratchchin:

Google Anti-Creo-Soot ACS. It is a spray & I've used it for several years with good results. It does keep the creosote from becoming like tar. I do clean my chimney yearly.Do they work? I noticed a Dura Flame type log at Wally World that supposedly helps eliminate creosote in stove pipes. Just wondering what your thoughts are regarding them. I burn wood at my hunting cabin. I don't regularly clean the pipes. Are these things helpful?

Get a roaring flame going & spray it on the flame. It does seem to keep the creosote from becoming like tar.You spray it on the wood?
Anyone use this product?

Looks like you have to guard against spontaneous combustion, that wood is so dry.
That why getting rid of ashes is a pay attention job especially hot ashes, last week on local news a house burned down because hot ashes left near combustibles.

I use it but I still brush my chimney at least once a year.
That is absolutely correct. I do get the flames going pretty good when I am here. However not being hereI've used the Rutland crystals, but I bought it from a local hardware store, not Jeff.
From what I'm reading here (and my own practice) if you keep a 'roaring flame' often enough, there will be less need for add-on products.

during the day the fire does die down and smoulders. Also my chimney is masonry & is outside the house which is not ideal.
