He seen the vet once a year for shots and had his own room in the house ate dog food or eggs and used a kitty litter box. Never let him out when not home. The things he got himself into. When it got quiet I looked for him cause somewhere some damage was done.

Saw someone out in Nevada, years ago, with a pet raccoon. They used to walk it on a leash like a dog. Seemed pretty friendly.

We used to walk it but got too much attention so had to stay in the back yard. Suzy[ a boy named sue] loved to lay on the back of the couch and watch the street.

The problem with coons and squirrels is that they are very mischievous and when left alone, they are going to get into trouble of some kind. Maybe all animals are that way, certainly my dog is going to tear up some paper if he can find some if we leave him alone for any length of time. He just has to do something to burn off energy (or let us know he is not happy with his situation perhaps). My mother had a pet squirrel that she got as a baby. It would chew up cloths and make a bed inside of any drawer that he could get into. It got so bad, that she finally had to let it go.
I found a baby possum that I kept for a while and it would follow me everywhere I went, just like a puppy. My parents made me let it go back to the wild when it was about half grown. I never tried to domestic anything after that.
Deer must be easy to domesticate. When I was out in Wyoming, a lady there would feed a herd of deer. They were all descendants of a female that she raised and it always brought her young back to the ladies house. Anyone could feed them and they would crawl up in your lap to get some bread. One of my co-workers said that one evening she had someone knocking on her door, it was one of the deer wanting some food.

My wife said one day a little bird came pecking on our window and did this for a while. When she went out to see what was going on, she found that the bird feeder was empty. Was the bird asking for us to refill the feeder, maybe so.

The hummingbirds used to fly up to our kitchen window when their feeder was empty. You'd be looking out the window and there was the little fellow looking back at you.

Our hummers sometimes come back earlier than we anticipate.
They fly up and down and sideways to get our attention. Like where is the food? We are back!

Way back when I was a young 'un, the neighbour lady (she was mostly native Indian) had a pet skunk. The skunk was not destunk. She called it Stinky. Lived in the house and did its' business outside.

Fast forward to present day and we had a small flock (1 drake and 3 hens) of mallards hang around for 3 years. They lived with the chickens and every summer would give us eggs. They will lay about a half a dozen eggs, each. If you keep taking the eggs away, they will keep on laying all summer long. Trouble with ducks is that they wont lay in the winter. But their eggs sure are good!

Ditto, We had a few pet Raccoon's over the years, one named Rocky as well! Mine was cooner and would ride on my shoulder while on my 10 speed. Our coons were always very friendly, liked to wrestle and drew lots of attention. A Warden tried to give me heck for having it and I told him it was never tied up and he will leave when he wants. They always stayed around the house and hibernated in the barn over winter and then would turn wild and leave in the spring once mating season hit. They were very fun but a handful. Too many neighbors now days to have such a pet, they would think it was rabid and phone animal control. We had 2 pet crows that could almost talk but neighbor shot them. Animals are better neighbors then people.:)
