The cruise on my 40d will not work either. I wonder if this is a common problem?
The light comes on when I push the switch and then truns off as soon as I let go.

Hi Chris; I realize the trouble shooting guide is for the cruise circuit, but it's interesting that there is no mention of the pedal return spring tension like the problem I had. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

John, I really think your cruise control magnet is out of adjustment. Mine holds so solidly that I have to push very hard on the pedal to get it to slip. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Mine has lots and lots of friction and works perfectly at 850 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim; That was what I suspected too. But when I went down to the dealer to look at the 3 other TC's they mentioned, I saw that the return spring was adjusted differently on all 3 of them. Still, I only backed it off enough to keep the cruise on. It still has a lot of adjustment left to back off more if needed. But I didn't want to take all the tension off and someday NOT have the pedals return. No problems since last November with it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The cruise on my new TC33DA did not work when delivered.
The indicator light would go on, but it never held speed
even when holding the switch down.

It turned out to be a defective switch.
