I am not sure which forum is the best, so I double posted - sorry for any confusion.
I have a CT 225 BobCat tractor (same as Kioti???). It is 9 years old and only lightly used. I was moving some fallen branches and made several trips to the burn pile. I stopped tractor to load the loader and when I tried to re-start the engine, I got nothing - no gauges, no clicks, no lights. I tried it several times and it clicked then nothing again. The battery is almost new, but I took it out and had an auto parts place check it. It tested good with a high charge.
I can only think that it is the starter or key switch. I don't know how to check these parts.
Any suggestions or other possibilities. Any help is appreciated.

To do any sort of electrical trouble shooting you need two basic tools which are not expensive: $30 at most

A multimeter:

A 12 volt test light.

Post some photos of your battery and cables. Especially where your ground cable connects to the frame or engine block. Remove the ground to frame connection and clean to shiny metal. Just tight is not good enough.

If your battery cables have replacement ends, consider replacing them with new cables.

Post photo of your starter and you can be shown how to jump start the engine which help diagnose if your starter is OK or not.

If you have a wiring diagram post it.

Your tractor will have either a fusible link which is a piece of wire with special insulation which acts like a big fuse or a real slow blow fuse.

The fusible link will look like this and be close to the starter

Get the suggested tools, post the suggested photos, wiring diagram and soon you will be on the road to recovery.

If you do NOT follow a structured path, you will be spending money replacing parts that are still good and still have your problem.

Good info there Dave..
I know I sound like a broken record but.. Hold the key in the START position & start wiggling levers..
To jump start the starter you'll need a length of wire or some battery cables will do..
The HOT lead is the big bundle of wire on the starter..
The start lead is the small wire.. you need to get power TO the small wire..
Take a lead from your jumper cables & hook 1 up to the hot.. now JUST TOUCH the other end of the lead to the small wire..
BE CAREFULL.!!!! the tractor might be IN GEAR & it'll run over you.!!!
LISTEN for the starter to start to turn the motor & STOP.. pull the lead off..
NOW YOU KNOW the starter is good, but your not getting power to the small wire.
You can BUY a gizmo called a "REMOTE STARTER BUTTON" for about 10.00 at the parts store, walmart or 5.00 at the flea market that'll do the same thing, just safer..
BE CAREFULL & let us know how it went..

Every few months this happens to my JD 110tlb. In my case I remove, clean and reassemble my cables. In particular, my positive cable builds up corrosion where the copper wire goes into the connector and that is typically the culprit. Easy thing to try.

Sounds like a connection issue, when nothing comes on with the key, power and grounds need to be looked at, The fact that you got nothing and then tried it again and got clicks tells me you have a loose and or corroded power or ground cable problem.

First - thanks for the replies.
I just started to check the problem (no start, no lights, no gauges). After I replaced the battery, I checked the cables. The positive cable was almost new and it was clean and connections were tight. The negative cable was a problem. It was clean and tight at the battery but I couldn't find where it was attached to the chassis. If anyone has a manual, please let me know the location.
I haven't tried the other suggestions yet. It was 93*+ and the tractor is out in the open. I will try some more tomorrow.
Thanks again.

Atsah – thanks for the schematic but what I need is the physical location of where the negative attached to the chassis. I tried to trace it but it gets lost inside the frame (I think).

Well, with the help of the brain trust here at TBN, I have diagnosed the problem (I think). I rechecked the battery cables and found that the negative cable had problems. I "wiggled" the cable at both ends and was able to start the tractor and move it to a better location. The battery clamp is starting to come apart when tightened and the attachment point at the frame needs cleaning. The screw? attaching it to the frame is rusted and will probably need replacing. Also, there are two small wires between the cable and the frame that come out of a wire loom and serve as grounding wires for something. Any guesses as to what they are for?

I haven't had the time to get a replacement cable but I will confirm the fix if it works.

Thanks again for the help.

What you are learning bis that there are many ground points on everything from Garden Tractors to very large trucks. Workshop manuals often contain pages of lists of ground poits as eacdh serves an important function. Close to the starter one of the smaller wires could be a ground for the engine stop solenoid.

It sounds very much like you are close to success.
