Sorry you are having a bad time. I am not a rep for anyone.

I had the SAME problem with a 3204, which I believe is your new number 3100. Had the entire assembly replaced. Never had another problem with it.

Cub Tech number is 800-800-9448. If you really want help, call them.

First of all......, I told them to fix it.
Second I am not trying to upsell to anything!!! I am trying to find out from real cub users about their experiences AND what their dealers are telliing them about the new "shaft drive" garden tractors.

I was talking about your dealer not you -sorry Your dealer was upselling to you to spend $2500 more and get another machine. Besides they sound like the problem here, so why buy another machine from them? You will most likely have setup issues again with another brand. The only constant is the same dealer.
I concur the dealer network Cub has chosen is sometimes pathetic and do more harm than good. I have one that is good and one that I wouldnt trust to change a flat - I know more than both and since my warranty is over, no longer need them for services. However my Deere dealer is excellent
and they let you learn from them, and have a professional setup.
Overall the machine is very easy to work on - sooner or later service and maintainence will need to be performed (not a warranty issue) and the best course of action is to be self sufficient. But that is obivous to most already...

Good luck either way

Ducatti,
I sincerley apologize. I hat to admit it but perhaps I was a little sensitive ( I hate that word) after being down this road.

Your help is truly appreciated as it with all the members of TBN and I will do my best to be more thoughtful in the future.

I will call CC today and hopefully update everyone soon.

When the PTO pulley on my 3204 broke, I thought what an expensive piece of junk. I had just paid top dollar for something that only lasted about 1.5 hours. Wish I could have been calm, cool, and collected. Got it back a few days later and never had another problem from that area again.

In retrospect, the problem could have been caused by coming up against a hump in the lawn between my property and the next door neighbors. I always avoided areas like that, or approached them at a different angle from then on.

The only other problem I had with this unit was a selonoid switch that controlled the starter. Again, fixed rather quickly and no further problems.

The only reason I purchased a 5254 was because I really needed the 4WD. Sure hope you are taken care of promptly. I would try to insist that they replace the entire pulley assembly and not one pulley at a time.

Good luck, Wojo

As stated in a previous post I have a CC 2084 purchased in 1994. The unit has been relatively trouble free. Some minor problems with the Kohler engine. After reading the posts here on the quality of CC today I would have to look at other brands for a replacement.

My dad bought a 3204 in April that was an absolute dog. It seemed to be a case of incompetance on the dealers part. When we finally screamed loud enough, they took the time to fix it right. I think t was 4 trips back to the dealer.

The rest of the summer was trouble free. Make them get it right, be a thorn in their side.

A good dealer can make a bad piece of equipment good........A bad dealer can make ANY piece of equipment bad. Listen to Duc..........he's an experienecd owner of a 3000 and works his machine hard.

A 3000 series Cub setup properly is as good if not better than anything in its price class as well as many tractors costing ALOT more. If your dealer where you purchased isn't able to solve this he can't handle a problem on ANY brand machine.
