cub cadet 1050 will not crank when warm

This was a common problem on many MTD built mowers. The power to the starter relay runs thru all the safety switches before it goes to the starter relay. One of the switches likely has high resistance when warm and is reducing the voltage to the starter relay. The cure recommended by MTD was to add a relay to the system. Here's the wiring diagram from MTD for adding the relay.

That's great if his is wired that way with a solenoid on the starter - some are; some aren't. Josie, this is going to be hard to diagnose correctly until you get the correct schematic for his exact model/serial. Hope that the dealer rep sorts it out without you having to.

OK here's an update. After mowing for about an hour and then sitting for about 15-30 minutes it will start to turn over but not enough to start. This happens ONLY after running with the mower engaged. If it is run without the mower engaged it starts fine. Once it's cooled down it starts right up. The dealer still hasn't been out to look at it but my father did take a video.

The quality of the video is poor because we had to compress it to be able to transfer it from his ipad to my phone but you can see what is happening.

Put a voltmeter on the battery when it does it to see if the battery voltage is truly low. If the battery has good voltage then I'd say you have a bad connection at the solenoid or ground. The other possibility is a bad battery cable.

Another thought I just had is the bearing in the PTO may be bad. Are the blades trying to turn when it won't start.

Well here is an update. The dealer took it and adjusted the valves to the Cub Cadet specifications. Since then it has been working fine.
