( Of course we all understand the fact that Cubs name is somewhat hurt by "real tractor men"...but most people didn't even know what a Cub Cadet was before they went into Lowes and now everybody knows what it is. Yes there are going to be those customers that will never buy a Cub Cadet again because the one they got at Lowes was a piece of cr*p.
Theres always two sides of a coin though. On that side you see that it hurts the overall Cub Cadet name, but on the other side you see what all Cub has been able to do with its brand with the money generated by Lowes. Their Cub Commercial program has really taken off, they are finally producing their own compact tractors, they have utility vehicles now and are about to introduce their 4wd UTV...all these good products and more brand recognition to boot, now that doesn't sound so bad does it?
There are pros and cons both ways and this situation is certainly no different. )
Gamble, didn't your company drop the Cub built compact tractors? If so, why? The only compacts Cub is producing are the 5000 series (which they have been building for 2 years now) and the 6000 series (also building for 2 years now, it was called the 7284 in 2004, now it's the 6284). The 7000 series are rebadged Mitsubishi's and the 8000 series are rebadged Kioti's.
