CUB CADET HYDRAULIC QUEST?

HELLO, I'M NEW TO THIS SITE AND SO FAR HAVE FOUND IT VERY INFORMATIVE AND ADDICTING. CAN'T STOP LOOKING AT EVERYONE ELSE'S TRACTOR'S AND CUSTOM WORK. WELL ANYWAY ON TO MY QUESTION. ALTHOUGH I HAVE READ FOR DAYS NOW ABOUT POWER BEYOND I'M STILL NOT SURE WHAT I NEED TO RUN A GRAPPLE ON MY NEW CUB CADET EX 2900.
I HAVE A POWER BEYOND KIT ON ITS WAY BUT THATS AS FAR AS I GOT. I'M GOING TO FABRICATE THE GRAPPLE MYSELF - NOT WORRIED ABOUT THAT JUST UNSURE OF WHAT I NEED IN BETWEEN THE GRAPPLE AND THE POWER BEYOND? DO I JUST NEED A OPEN CENTER CONTROL VALVE? HELP PLEASE. THANKS. EDDIE

Hey Eddie, welcome. I dont know your specific tractor but I suspect its open center. Give your Cub Cadet dealer a call, as Im sure they can verify. Ive thought about a grapple for my tractor. I would use a single cylinder design controlled by a simple open center control valve. Good luck with your project.

First, PLEASE STOP YELLING AT US Typing in all capital letters is considered YELLING and it's very hard to read.

Now, on to your hydraulic question:

Your tractor is made by Yanmar, who also made mine, so I will ASSume there are similar. You have two basic options:

One is to plumb a new OPEN CENTER valve in-line with the PowerBeyond loop to give your one, two or three the circuits. Then you would need hoses to run from the rear all they way to the front of the loader...
Add added a two spool valve to my machine-you can view the post HERE.

The second option for a grapple is a electric solenoid valve (my preference) It effectively "splits" the curl circuit on your FEL so that when a button is held on the joystick handle the curl (moving the joystick left/right) nor opens/closes the grapple. I added one of these also, you can see it HERE


Think about these two options and get back to us, we will than get more detailed

I'm a new cub owner of a EX3200 with FEL. According to my dealer there should be a rear remote "kit" available for rear remotes in next couple of months (famous last words). There is also a power beyond valve setup available seperate from the backhoe attachment (cost is $190 if I recall correctly). I'm not sure how to utilize the power beyond hookups for hydraulic function but somebody else has probably figured that out. I just ordered a hydraulic selenoid from WR Long. It was a little spendy but I did get a quick mounting kit with it. About $700 full retail. I am going to use the valve to run a grapple ordered from Andy Tatro ($430).

Thanks for the replies and sorry about the capital letters. im a police officer and we type our reports in all caps. Since I posted last Ive gone back to the dealer and the power beyond kit is in and he is willing to install it for free however it wont be until September. Ive started fabricating the grapple arms and I am having them plasma cut by a friend. when i have the power beyond kit installed I am assuming I can run lines to a open center valve that im looking to mount somewhere close to my existing bucket control. my dealer is fairly new to the tractor business and is not very knowledgable about hydraulics. thanks for all the input thus far. I should have some pics once I start putting it all together.

Andy Tatro is a guy who builds bucket grapples and other tractor stuff.

A lot of guys on TBN have his grapples including myself.
The lower left picture on his website is of my tractor with 2 of his grapples on my 72" bucket.

I was in to the dealer yesterday and the remote kit was not out yet. Does anyone know if a JD kit ($$$) from a similar model would work for adding rear hydraulics? WR Long solenoid valve is on backorder according to my dealer.
