cub cadet m50s tank
My left trans in my zero turn m50s tank went out on me . I removed the trans and can find a model number or anything that tells me what one it is so I can find parts . pretty sure it痴 エ a zt2800 but not sure model . I attatched pics of the numbers I found on the outside of the unit .

Hydrogear tag should of been on the read lower half of the axle tube. Sometimes you can use the model number to come up with the model of the hydro drive units. What is the actual model number from under the seat.

My tractor is a cub cadet m50s tank . 53bb5bbp750. I sent pics to hydro gear and they are saying it’s a 3100 . It’s been rebuilt before so I’m guessing it’s not the original trans.

Have the same mower. My ID tags are on the axle stub casting just beside the oil filters. Never had an issue with mine other than a leaking charge pump 'O' ring which I replaced. Almost 1000 hours on the unit. I do change my oil every 2 years and filters too. Hydro-Gear sells (on Amazon) an oil change kit with oil and filters and an adapter that makes filling easy. I recommend changing the oil and filters every 2 years at least. Nice thing about Hydro-Gear IZT transmissions is they take regular multi-grade motor oil (in my case 15-40) so no expensive fluid needed.

Good mower, actually has grease fittings.

Looks like the 2005 and before used one of two different hydrogear units both with the same CC part number. the 2006 and after just used one hydrogear part number.

So there’s no way to get a new center section? The one transaxle is stamped with a “May 2013” does that mean the manufacture date ? Is it already outdated ? Would there be anyway to get a new center section from a newer model to work in mine.

The center section from what I can tell . Surface has grooves in it . Everything else looked good.

I went and looked at the schematics for the 3 drive units that I can up with earlier, and all three take different center sections. Also if you find any grooves on the charge pump. charge pump cover, the pump or the motor section that you can catch a fingernail in when scratched across the surface they are toast also and have to be replaced. Two of the three are no longer available. I suspect that you have the 71563 center section which list at $206

In talking with a guy from hydro gear he recommended 71566.... do think that’s a viable option . He things the case I have is newer but the internal components are old . The center section he recommended has a filter and the one I took out doesnt . Not sure what to think of that. The part you sent me looks more like what I have .

Both mine have spin on filters and I'd say my M50 tank is at least 10 years old, maybe more.

Guess I'm kind of curious how you scored the unit. Have to be dirt in there right?

I bought it from a dealer that used it to mow their business lawn . I paid $800 5 years ago. It’s in great condition , engine doesn’t leak or burn oil . I think it’s worth trying to save . Here’s some pics of what was in my unit .

And by filter I just meant the black screen that seems to come on the newer center sections. Neither looks like it matches up to my center section . I’m guessing I’m out of luck .

Looking at the center section I am surprised that the pump and motor are not both trashed with fingernail catching grooving.

Two things will lead to scoring. Overheating due to overload or improper cooling due to broken cooling fan or debris buildup. The other is shock loading which the shock valves should help prevent, but in fast direction changes the pressure spiked can cause the pump to lift off of the mating surface on the center section and then slam down causing metal to metal contact.

The pump and motor are trashed too . Not as bad as the center section but they have slight grooves . I can find those parts , just can’t find the center section.

I think I’m leaning towards the 71563 part . Looks like it will work . What model trans did you find it in ?

That center section fits several different variations of ZT transaxles, including on of the three drives that was used on your mower.

Do you know the actual serial number so I can pull up a parts schematic just to see if it’s different than mine . I’m pretty sure I can put those parts in the case I have . Just want make sure nothing else is different . Thanks for your help !

The hydro-gear model number using the 71563 center section and also corresponds with the 02002162 part number for your M50 is ZL-KHEE-3P5A-1DLX
