Cultivator sweep stem

Anyone know what size stock the stem on this is supposed to take? It's a bad picture, but looks like maybe 1" square. Here's the agri supply link.

Those bolt onto a 1 5/8" wide shank. The upper and lower plow bolt hole-centers are 2" apart.

Agri supply sells the cultivator shanks too. The sweeps are made in Brazil. Shanks are made in China.

I only see the C type tine. I was wanting a straight shank, kinda like this Brinly, but with a 10" sweep.

I dismissed the one you linked because of the cost. I need 7 of them. What I'm thinking about doing is getting some pieces of heavy square tube, having the ends bent to about 20 deg and mounting the sweeps to them. I'm still running the possibilities around my little brain. I'd like solid bar stock, but steel is crazy expensive these days. Maybe 1/4" wall square tube would suffice.

Yeah, those one's I linked are pricey. I have two of them for my KEULAVATOR. Not worth the cost if you ask me, not for my purposes anyway.

Yea, I think those spring reset points are made for high HP tractors, not my little 25hp 2660.

I have a 2920. The springs are adjustable and you can get them to trip pretty easy with the little tractors. I had them set way too loose initially though and they just sprung and didn't reset. I have the 12" sweep which are also too big really. I almost got the 16" sweeps, but luckily they were out of stock on the 16" ones when I ordered.

But, I don't think I would buy them again. I do run them upside down on my bedder as they add some nice weight

If it was me, I would use my new Hiller attachment I just made and a pair of the trip type shanks someone linked earlier. There is more to those than just the trip. Adjustments can be made to make that sweep cut less/more that you wont get out of square stock. Search flea bay for IH cultivator shank 140. I dont see why one would need 7 at one time.

Personaly Id go with 7/9 in, sweeps, and space your tines accoridingly to suit your needs, 12 in sweeps and the like are 4 special use, and offer alot of special problems 2, Eric

Hard to cultivate a 4' wide stretch with 2 shanks unless you have a 24" sweep in mind.

MKK.. what problems do 10" sweeps pose? My idea was to use 4 in the front gang with 5" of space between them tip to tip and 3 in the rear covering that space with 2.5" overlap on both sides.

I cultivate with a farmall 140, it has front hydralics, my thought were not well thought out. You could get by with 4 shanks. 2 with smaller sweeps set close to the "row" and 2 with larger sweeps that would cover at least half of the middle. You will need to travel every row so you would get half of the middle now and half on the next row. You might also look at getting some rolling cultivators.
