( In light of some of the posts of late, I thought I would post one of a good experience. It seems everywhere you go these days, restuarants, box stores, consumer goods stores, etc... customer service is a dying art )

I just had a great experience worth sharing. As many of you know, I overheated my truck transmission pulling the CK20 at 70 MPH through the hills of CT. Once I slowed down to 55 it was fine. Turns out with the loader, trailer, cab and Woods X70, the rig weighs almost 4500 lbs. Ouch.
So I go to the transmission place to have the pan dropped, filter changed and the 12 quarts transmission fluid flushed out that doesn't come out by just dropping the pan. I go there wearing my flannel insulated shirt, work jeans, boots and very dressed down right off working on the farm. The guy who runs the shop comes up and judging his potential customer, talked very plain, with a slight stutter and lots of fer's and yeahs and well, Jeff Foxworthy stuff. I leave the truck. When I go to pick it up the next day, I am taking my wife to the fancy restaurant in town for her birthday so I am in a suit. This same guy, talks without the stutter, clear English, and a different type of jokes/humor. I was amazed and really pleased. He matched his level so well with the level of his customer to make me feel at home. I though, this guy is a real pro. He also tightened the belts, looked the transmission over and said it should run for many many miles, no damage. You can tell he owned the shop and took pride in his product. It was a pleasure.

Just as an aside, do you have or have you considered adding a transmission oil cooler to your truck? If you don't have one, your transmission would love you for adding one.

Many towing packages include a cooler, so maybe you already have one.

Matt, gotta post some pics when you get that 80x hoe. That's one sweet looking piece of equipment.

As to the cell phone companies generally they are not in it for the long haul. They just want to sell the kids the latest gadgets an annual basis and grap customers from other service providers with gimmicky (a word?) offers.

I do have another small issue and alas will have to make a call to the service guy in the a.m. Will discribe maybe someone else has seen this.....

Go out to the barn to feed the critters this morn and notice my new orange critter is looking at me eagerly. The headlights are on /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I think "what a dumb a$$", left lights on. But talk about confused, the key is out and the light switch is in the off position. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif So I move the headlight switch to the on position (without inserting key) and the headlights go off and stay off after moving the switch back to the off position. 20-30 seconds later the lights come back on. I play this game about ten times before finally punting, I removed the negative battery cable, game over. Unit I set the cable back on the battery..... twenty seconds later lights ON and I can feel/hear the relay right next to the battery clicking. This relay must be for the headlights and have a mind of it's own or the orange beast is eager to get to work after laying around for the last couple of weeks of NE monsoon season. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Anyone see anything like this before?

I seem to remember one person posting about this happening. I think it was a long while back so I don't remember exactly, but it had to do with part of the ignition system. Seems it wasn't really serious, but once in a while you get a bad relay.

It's covered under warranty if yours is still in warranty, and if not, I'm sure the part is not very expensive.

Maybe someone will remember what that thread was, or maybe the victim will see this and post.

One thing you might try in the meantime is to hook up the battery, wait until the lights come on and then disconnect the wire to the light switch for a time, and then try hooking back up. You never know, I've had that routine fix many a gremlin!

Of course, until you get repair you could just disconnect the light switch if you don't need them for a time.
