The BX1500 would be a great choice for you to get your work done. Life span for the tractor mowing what you have would be into your will to your kids. The Sears as well as all bid mowers we call disposable, many only last here in NY 3-5 years before being shot although from time to time we find the still working 10 years out. In florida with the sand blasting the decks get that will be the first to go.

Heck, I gave the BX2200 some consideration as a lawn mower before my wife hit me up side the head and set me straight. Boy did I need that. If only Henro's wife would have done the same. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hey, wait a minute! I resemble that remark! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

As I was reading this thread I kept feeling that there are needs and there are wants. For one acre...well, in the beginning I cut about an acre of grass here with a push mower...regularly...it took six hours. It took a lot more when I let the grass get out of hand and had to cut it once with the mower wheels [22" deck] all the way up, and the front held off the ground 8"...

Boy, when I got that old, used self-propelled mower [also 22" deck] I was in heaven! A summer or two of that proved to me that time and a push mower is all that we NEED for an acre of grass. And that includes the side benefit of exercise; no need for a YMCA membership!

So...anything more than a push mower for 1 acre is excessive! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now that we got that out of the way, it is just a matter of deciding how much excess you can afford...and what is practical for your need as far as physical size goes. As much as one might like to have one, a 90 pto hp tractor might be nice to sit on [or in, might as well get a cab model] with one acre, but few would argue it to be a usable match for 1 acre.

The other day I saw an old red farm tractor parked in the driveway of a old surburban area near Pgh, where the amount of land was about the same size as the brick house it was parked in front of...worked for that guy...as an ornament or something...he was probably inside the house smiling ear to ear... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

No doubt in my mind that any of the bx size tractors would be a good choice for one acre, if the purchase does not break the bank.

so I would be mowing all the time.....I had a push mower one time when I fist moved in thinking I am young this is nothing got me a rider about a week later....Skinny plastic sinking in sand wheels sand blasted legs ect....never again even if I have to get a MTD yearly

Now get back on subject does it matter if I need it or want it i am a man and you know how we are about toys. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just remind her that you can get jobs around the house done faster with a CUT and spend more time with her. Also this tractor should last you a lifetime so the money that you save can be spent on her!!!!! My wife all ready has made claim that the next large purchase will be a new vehicle for her!!!!
I have been amazed at the things I use my FEL for. I loaded wood with it the other day. Normally would take 2 people an hour or so, I did in about 15 minutes by myself not to mention I was even tired and had fun doing it.

Chuko, I am with you. Forget the pushmower and while I think the goat is a clever solution I doubt it can help you lift things like bags of mulch or small appliances or drag lumber etc. I would not underestimate one acre. If you plan lot's of landscaping etc the BX will be a huge help. Go get it and post pics with your wife on it and you sipping a beer as she motors around /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif J

Just trying to get a rise out of you Henro. Man you are so easy! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yep, all you need is a pushmower. Did that for a season, but got tired of the limestone rock bouncing off the house, the cars, and my shins. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Then I got an old Huskee/MTD for free and that was a lot better. But then I made the mistake of laying soil on top of my bedrock and planting bermuda. With my "baby tractor" (as my 2-year-old son calls it, as opposed to the "big tractor") I can mow it easily and it looks really great. Now I'm expanding the lawn and I'll go from 1/4 acre cutting regularly to about a half acre. Love that baby tractor.

If'n I didn't have my 2910, I think I'd be really happy with a BX, probably the 1500. They just look neat. Maximum capability in a minimum size. Same philosophy I used with my 2910.

Chuko I think TresCrows got the motivation for the wife thing going in the right direction with "If you plan lot's of landscaping etc the BX will be a huge help" Let her know what can be accomplished in other words do some serious project brainstorming. And make sure you follow through if you want her to stick around /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Maybe the added cost should be related to the added property value of that one acre when your done with it. You know her buttons better than us But I am sure there s one to push. Think man think.!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Also I must say that it seems you have crossed over the line I don't feel you will have anything but buyers remorse if you end up with a GT. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Good Luck /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ok guys thanks for the info. So here is what I/we need to do
Somehow remove or let the two threads I started about the 1500 go to page two so when this place is opened the wife cant see them.

Then I can post a new question something like is a bx overkill for a ac yard

Then all you guys could chime in saying how good they are ect....(none of that push mower talk /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

"Chuko I think TresCrows got the motivation for the wife thing going in the right direction with 'If you plan lot's of landscaping etc the BX will be a huge help' "

Yes, this is definitely going in the right direction. I have seen several posts on TBN where it was mentioned that once the wife realized how much yard work/landscaping you could do, she not only agreed with the BX, but took charge of the deal an went for a bigger model!

You really need to start thinking about a BX23... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
