Thanks for the suggestion. I had thought about that, and am going to contact a couple local shops.
I'm not really keen on doing it myself... mostly because I worry I would need a special tool, or need experienced knowledge to do the job right.
It may even be cheaper to use a Hydraulic shop.
Thanks again.
Make sure you have cash on you....
I took one of mine where I couldn't find a correct kit for it.... took it to a shop and essentially said "fix this one and give me an extra set of parts so I can fix its twin that I have at home"
No problem I asked about how much... 'hmmmm..... maybe $75" so I said fine.
Go back later to get it.... he says $75, I hand him my debit card... he looks at me.... says $75 was for cash. If I use plastic it will be a little more.
I don't care....that's fine, I don't typically carry cash on me.
He returns and has rung it up..... it's $150
WTF???
Bit my tongue and paid the bill. Driving home talking with the wife, it dawned on me that these guys probably have a little cottage industry going on in the back.... for those that pay cash, cost is cheaper but probably never gets rung up. Since I used my card, it had to go through the proper channels.
So, were they stealing? I don't know. Ticked me off. Had he simply told me up front the cost difference PRIOR to running it on my card, I could have gone to bank & pulled some cash out.
I doubt I'll ever go back there again but, if I DO, you can bet that I'll have cash on me just in case they pull a stunt like that again.
