One thing I'm not sure about is when piston/rod item 4 is extended by putting fluid into the ROD/CLEVIS end port, it appears that a vacuum would be created. Perhaps there is a feature in the circuit that allows "makeup fluid" to enter the base port of the cylinder to prevent the vacuum? The makeup volume wouldn't be great since it's only the area of the tubular cross section of the piston/rod.
I understand that fluid is put into the BASE port when adjusting the stroke limiter position. It's an interesting cylinder application at any rate.
