I don't know if this is too late but Rustolum dark gray matches Kubota gray just about right on. I have used it and the only way to tell which is which is the Kubota has less gloss to it. Plus its a lot cheaper than Kubota paint.

As for powder coating, I just had my rims done for my Unimog and the finish is very hard. Most powder coats I have seen wear like iron. I hope so, I just dropped off all four springs to have them coated today!

Springs + heat = disaster.... I don't think that I would powder coat springs. I believe that the oven heat might take some of the temper out of the springs. The oven runs about 400 degrees... Just my thoughts, nothing scientific. I may be wrong, but I would feel negligent if I didn't at least make the comment for you to check it out. I suggest that you contact a truck spring manufacturer to be certain and call the powder coater to find out the temperature of the oven and how long it will be in there... Hate to see you have nice looking springs that don't hold up..... pun intended..... also double meaning. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Guys, I'm almost sorry I started this post. The two posts about this all sounding like BS and something about spinning into the ground really ticked me off. I took them as being directed towards me, the initiator of this thread, not Junkman who thought they were somehow aimed at him.

I took that as someone calling me a liar just because I couldn't post pics of what I was describing. I even explained that the reason I couldn't is that I had already touched them up. I even tried to "borrow" some pics from the thread on connecting a rear work light, because pics of two different tractors in that thread showed the same kind of rust I was describing. Alas, I couldn't get the pics to work in my post.

I don't like to be called in essence a liar, and I started to rebutt, but then thought better of it because I didn't want a great forum to be drug down into belittling and name calling. I just bit my tongue and decided to let it lay.

I'd like to just agree to disagree. I feel I should have gotten better quality for what to me is a lot of money. I know it isn't going to stop the tractor from doing its job.

Someone also said I have done nothing but complain. This is true, but let me explain. I spent over $12,000 to replace my old Cub Cadet because the HST was acting weird and didn't want to stop when pulled into neutral. So, here I am with this brand new Kubota...which won't stop when I take my foot off the pedal!!! The other major aggravation I have experienced is the self-changing cutting height adjustment. I'm sorry, but these are two basic things that the whole function of the tractor depends on and that are used continuously. It's not like I occasionally run into a drink container that won't fit into the cup holder or something of that nature.

I should have maybe complained to Kubota or the dealer rather than on here, but I was 1.) trying to get a feel for whether others were experiencing the same type problems, and 2.) venting. I will be talking to the dealer and/or Kubota.

Again, sorry this thread I started veered off in a bad direction. Keep up the great forum.

"I don't think he meant you, I think he meant the entire thread is getting that way"

Get mad--I don't care but there is no reason to and you will note in the above excerpt that I clearly stated "entire" . This would include then-entirely--every post--not just yours and would include mine as well. That is what entire means when it is used as such.

Here is the deal with me--no pics--oh well---why--cuz a picture is worth a thousand words. And a thousand words no matter who writes them often turn into--well--BS. J

Junkman,
I asked about that and they said they powder coat them all the time. In fact many of the off road after market ones you buy are power coated, so I guess 400 is not hot enough to hurt anything. Heck they get that hot sitting next to the exhaust I bet!
