D850 questions

I just purchased a light plant generator with a Kubota 850 engine. Do these engines have a governor? If not can one be added.? I noticed that when I increase the load on generator, it does not seem to pick up speed. The only way I see to increase the speed is with the lever on the side of the engine. Which is not good because I dont want to be running outside and increasing the speed every time a load is applied. I changed the oil and used Shell Rotella 15-40 but some one said I should have used 10-30. Any help appreciated.

These engines do have a govenor but they are somewhat lazy. Not so good for a gen. A generator governor can be put on but I think a diesel shop would need to do it. Unless of course you have a better understanding of the innards than I do.
