Really Ive only ever met two people that really liked that color. I hope i did the right thing by going away from it.

Yeah, I really did.

Back when I was looking for a farm truck I went out to look at a 90 733 IDI ford 350l silver body red interior... it was old but cheap. like 2900$ On the way back from looking at it, I passed by a dealership that had a 99 450 with the 7.3psd and I used the $$ i was gonna buy the olde rone with as a downpayment instead. :)

Cool truck. Are you from Virginia, I thought it looked like VA plates and a VA inspection sticker on it? If you are from VA how do you get it to pass a VA state inspection?

Why do you think it wouldn't pass? Just curious.

I am not really sure what the laws are regarding a engine swap. It may not be that bad since it is a diesel. I saw on TV that for a 50 state legal swap the engine had to come out of the same make vehicle and be the same year or new year or newer. I was thinking about doing a V8 swap in Ranger. I was going to get everything from a Explorer and keep it EFI. I emailed the DMV and asked them what the laws were on engine swaps. All they told me was the engine is a integral part of the vehicle and has the VIN on it. Since the engine has the VIN on it your are required to get a reconstructed title.

I don't see that being a diesel would make it any better or worse.

I have read the same thing about same year or newer.

So they expect every one who replaced an engine, from a Jasper reman to a junkyard takeout, to get a rebuilt title? To h*ll with that!

A diesel in the year of the OP's truck did not have any emission equipment on it. A gas truck in that year had a bunch of junk on it. So a diesel Ford getting a Cummins may be easier:confused3:

I guess if you change the engine in it they want a rebuilt title, that will kill the value of the vehicle.

I could email the DMV again and see what king of answer they give me this time. I'll ask the guy when I get my car inspected in December if he is not busy.

Well as far as the DMV goes it was a diesel 7.3 before its still a diesel now so there good when you go from diesel to gas or gas to diesel is when they get worked up, it was in the same emissions bracket as the old engine so its compliant, so were good! c:thumbsup:

Cool truck:thumbsup:

Dave

Thanks man!!
