The bottom 2 3pt hookup locations are broken on my JD4300 at the same spot. Dealer wants $450 for the whole housing and about $750 for the install. I figure I'm going to keep using it for now till it breaks.

I bet you wont do that again though; good luck with it.

Can you post pics of the breaks?

And curious how they broke (I have a 4300 so want to be on the lookout).
thanks

(sorry for the diversion...appreciate Pushing Tin letting us know not to box blade at excessive speeds, as it can get expensive  ).

Actually, it sounds more like a screwball implement attachment set up.... like other have noted, a box blade should never be able to come in contact with tires no matter how high it is raised.

Got one quote from the dealer I bought from, came to $1500, not including the $120 for pick up as I don't have a trailer for it. They did say that it was possible to weld it, so I am going to call a few people and see what that would run.

Just got off the phone with a certified welder. He said it can't be done with the hydraulic fluid all over, plus because it's cast he has to heat it to 750 degrees which will damage any seals in the area.

I called my insurance company just to see my deductible was. After discussing the accident they told me that told me that it wasn't a "named peril" and it wasn't covered anyway! So I said, an accident isn't covered by insurance??! So I'm SOL on all fronts. :(

Nope, deductible is $1000.

I've been doing that for years, just pulled the box up too far. I don't have time to blade a 1/4 mile driveway at 1mph. :)

Hate to lecture but, he's right. When doing any sort of road work you need to go slow.

At 1mph you would get 4 passes. Are you saying you didn't have 2 hours to grade a 1/4 mile.??

Whatever.....get your money out.

Turnbuckles must have swinging loose.

That's correct, two jobs and too much to do. I've been doing it that way for years, that's why they're called accidents.

I think you misunderstood all the "weld it" posts. No one who suggested welding it meant or implied that you could just weld it where it is. The housing would need to be taken off, thoroughly cleaned, all the seals and gaskets removed, disassembled and probably even hot tanked to clean all the oil off of it before it could be welded. After welding, it would need to be reassembled and reinstalled.

Thanks Mechanos, you've been very helpful. I didn't understand that. By the time I pay somebody to do all of that, and then have it welded it's going to be $1000 or so, and for $600 more I can get a brand new unit which is what I think I am going to do.
