Sure hope I didn't jinx myself reading this thread - still on original bowl here.

Okay folks, I did it. Replaced the bowl.

The new bowl still allows you to see the pleats in the filter but not the dirt or water if there is any. At least you know there is an element in there!

The new bowl seems to be tighter to install. As in, harder to compress the spring enough to get the brass colored ring to catch the threads of the filter base. I even took it apart to verify that the spring was in the proper place. The O-ring that was snug on the top of the clear bowl was also loose on the top of the milky bowl.

It all seems to work fine and is noticably softer and more flexible than the brittle clear bowl.

So, back in business.

Mine just blew. It lasted 12 years! New one on its way.....$27!

That's about 9 years longer than my first one lasted. Current fuel bowl is fine at 7 years.

Cannot complain. That's the only engine repair I've ever needed.

Too bad there is not a glass one out there. The B21 bowl sure looks different in the pix I have
seen. At least the fuel filters are common: $5.

I'm still on my original at 12 years. It's clear plastic. A few years ago when members reported the problem, I purchased a new one just in case. It's a milk color.

Mine just has a small crack in the bottom. Leaks fuel on-and-off when operated. That's
a pricey replacement bowl, and minimum shipping from a dealer is $18. If I was not
using the tractor on pavement, I might not have discovered it for a while, maybe when
the leak got really big.

Mine lasted 11 years. New one I just bought is milky and seems to be more pliable.

Seems that 11 or 12 years may be about the max lifespan for these bowls. I have less than
700 hr on this 12yo tractor, so it may not have much to do with the hours on the unit.

My milky-bowl will hopefully arrive today.

Q - If the bowl cracks and your not around for a week will it drain the tank on a CK 30 HST ?
