This comes from the manual itself regarding the SA cylinder. Your advice still stand after reading this? Also, the down force kit has two ports on it rather than one. I guess I could plug it with the plug it came with, but I am searching for suggestions. Also, I will likely call Danuser on Monday and sound them out for suggestions as well. As you might expect, the tractor has a FEL and I don't think there are any spare return ports to plug into at this time--could be wrong however.

Return port, hose, whatever, add a tee and put the log splitter return line there.

Whatever, the valve used with the SA cyl , the other work port should either be plugged or the work port hose should go to any return hose or port.

Which advice? :confused3: Yes what you have will physically work, no I would not depend on the single rear remote to operate this down force kit. Do you understand how the down force kit works? That raising the PHD boom is what retracts the ram on the down force cylinder. That when the digging is very tough, you keep the lever pulled for a continual flow into the cylinder thus putting a constant force on the piston with all the excess flow going through the bi-pass and returning into the tank. When you raise the boom, the ram retracts, hydraulic fluid is sent through the bypass and back into the tank.

I operate my PHD using 2 rear remote valves. One for the pressure source and the other as a return source with the lever bungeed in the float position. This has worked very well for me for many years.

Fair enough. I will drop by Deere on Monday and let them splice in a T or add a port for the return flow. I would rather do that than put have a loose hose running into the fill cap. Thanks for the help.

The Down Force Kit for a F8 is a one-way acting cylinder. At the bottom of the gray box is a port that goes to the back tractor remote. The second port by the short U shaped hose goes to the return or sump port of the tractor hydraulics. When you want to use the down force kit activate the hydraulics and lower the 3pt. hitch. Any time you want to raise the 3pt hitch you must turn off the hydraulics and the oil will go through the short hose and back into your oil reservoir. If you don't turn them off when you raise the 3pt, the cylinder will fight with the 3pt and something could bend or break. If that does not make sense call Danuser and ask for Glenn Danuser.

Thanks for the explanation.

Since most remotes are DA, how do you recommend to run the work port hoses to control the down pressure cyl?

Work port B is normally used for a SA cyl.

If all you have are DA remotes, let's say that moving the lever forward will activate the down force kit. When you want to raise the 3pt hitch, just simply return the lever back to neutral. Same way will work with SA also. Let me know if you need any further help. Glenn Danuser.

Is there a relief valve in the little grey block?

In neutral the work ports are blocked.
