I live up near South Bend. I liked it the way it was. I was hoping the Governor would come up to my house towards the end of June so that he could help me put my kids to bed at 9:00 when it is still light out at 10:00PM. The governor is a dufus and the county government folks here in St. Joseph County are spineless. And they are all from different political parties, so this is not a political post. Also, it was getting light near 6:00am last week. Then we changed and now it isn't getting light until 7:00. So, the kids that were walking to school in the dark were just starting to get a break of light and now they are forced to walk to school in the dark again. Our company had to manually manipulate hundreds of computers to adjust the time zone because Microsoft couldn't patch the special Indiana(East) time zone if the checkbox to automatically adjust for daylight savings time had been checked. We also had some file sync problems on files that got manipluated before the time change but were acted on after the time change. I wonder how many other Indiana companies had similar problems.
At home I had to adjust 12 clocks last weekend, too. I ain't too happy about it. Things were fine the way they were. At least we will be on the same time as Michigan and Ohio. So now I can go up to the beach at Lake Michgan to watch the sun sets in June and get kicked out of the park before it goes down because it sets well after 9:00PM(park closing time) up there from the end of May through the first part of July.
Also, I use to enjoy nighttime swims in our pool with the kids. Now, since it won't be getting dark until after 10:00PM, that is shot. And it is going to kill the last drive-in theater left in the area.
Overall, I'd rate it right up there with the 75 year lease of the toll road to a private company... or should I say, right DOWN there? /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
