That worked on my '97, but not on my '99. When they came out with the Silverado bodystyle they completely changed everything. Your DRLs are headlights, mine are the little lights down by the turn signals. Darn things keep blowing bulbs. I found some "heavy-duty" last time, they seem to be lasting a little bit longer than the previous....gotta fix them because it bugs me to bad to see something that doesn't work. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

There are places where the 4 way fashers are mandated if you are travelling below a certain speed.

jwstewar,

I don't know if your truck is the same as mine as it is a 2000 model, but I override my auto-on headlights by pushing the dome light button in four times.

As far as the drl's, if you don't want those on, just let them burn out and they'll never bother you again. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I actually do like the DRLs. I'm a pretty big fan of them, but the dome light override button doesn't work on the 99s. I had read that a long time ago and tried it - didn't work. No way to turn the lights off other than turning the truck off.

Something else to try on my '96. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Speaking of headlights we like or don't like on oncoming vehicles, what does everyone think of the modulating headlights you see on some motorcycles (like mine, for example /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )?

Readin' about all this automatic stuff makes me feel kinda backwards. On my ol' Dakota, I have to turn the lights on and off, lock and unlock the doors, roll the windows up and down, and shift the gears. Whew! Makes me tired jus' thinkin' 'bout it all... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hazard lights should be used when you are parked on the side of the roadway, or broken down IN the roadway, or are having to go much slower than the rest of the traffic for whatever reason. If you are coming up over a hill and see a huge backup, then put them on to warn drivers that something is up.

But turning them on in a rain storm? I think the other drivers already know it's raining /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I feel your pain Don. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was one of the guys who thought automatics were for sissies, power windows and locks something else that could go wrong, etc.

But not having to shift a C5500 ain't bad. Especially when that Allison is acting like a good bud and catching them gears for you going up or down. And when I'm in the left lane a bud comes up in the right one I like being able to power down and have a conversation. August in north Texas will make you very thankful for A/C, in spades.

And those power--heated mirrors, oh what a blessing. Especially why everything's frosted over and you're backing a trailer into a tight spot. Just keep kicking that mirror out with the button and watch that puppy go where it's supposed to like a good thing.

I've just about decided it was some genius at GM that came up with the short life bulbs for the daytime lights. First and most importantly of course, capital generation. But just as important is the purpose of the daytime lights, getting noticed. The only that will get you more noticed than daytime lights is having one of them out. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The impala that we bought has a leather interior. Never had one before. Very comfortable... until it gets cold. Man, leather is cold and stays cold. Thank goodness it has seat heaters in the front seats. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Man, I thought automatic transmissions were luxury items, but those seat heaters are awsome! Flip that switch to high and 30 seconds later your rear end and lower back are nice and toasty. On long trips I alternate it between off, low and high. It's like getting a massage while driving. Really helps the old back. I highly recommend them. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I remember telling you that you'd love those, Harv. Having those goes from indefensible to indispensible real quick, doesn't it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been lusting after the in cab video screen hooked to a camera in the back to see the wheel lift hook up before you lift for towing. It'd be especially handy on sharp angle hooks to make sure the blind side is on the wheel OK.
