Mike, Your tractor must have a different hydraulic valve than mine. It sure sounds like you are looking at the detent balls. Can you post a picture of it?

Hey thanks for the input. i just took a picture of the outside of the front of the valve after I took it apart and lubed it a week or so ago, how does it compare with yours?

Mine looks similar. I backed off the set screw like in the picture. Then I backed out the thin large nut and unscrewed it from the body. That is when the 2 balls fell out. I reassembled the valve. Mine was just that easy.

Oh man, now I'm thinking I never had any balls!!!!!!! But it sort of worked when I first got it, then did not detent after 6 mo or so. Recently when I lubed it it worked for several days, then did not detent.

I think someone fooled around with mine before I got it. As partial evidence of that, my set screw was cracked in half, and that's a big set screw. I know i didn't do it myself as when i had both parts out they were rusted at the broken parts.

I suppose one ball bearing was in each little chamber and was just the size to add some additional pressure on the rod.

Maybe I'll get a selection of sizes and try them.

IF ANYONE STILL HAS THE BALLS, COULD YOU MEASURE THEM FOR ME?

Thanks, that is the most valuable info I've gotten on this.

Mike

This is what came out of the valve on my CK35. The larger ball is .249" and the smaller ones are .218".

I am trying to figure out what you are saying, You said the detent worked when you first got it. You also said there are no balls or springs there. What happened to them? Did someone else work on the valve?

If you put the wrong balls in there now, you might not be able to get it out of detent.

JJ you are getting me worried. Are there springs in the mechanical part of the kioti ck30 rear remote valve. All this discussion all anybody mentioned was two ball bearings.

did you miss my previous post ? I provided a picture and measured the balls like you asked. That is what came out of my 2 year old CK35, I'm sure the 30 is the same.

Hey BJN I just looked at your picture.

Whew.

Where do the ball bearings go? I assume the spring is an inline thing, between the hex nut and the rod coming out of the valve...

Thanks

Mike

I'm sorry I can't say for sure where the balls go, the dealer removed them for me on the parts counter when I bought the kit. It didn't take him long, so I'm thinking it's an easy job. I would contact Bob @ Michigan Iron or Rick @ Wallace Tractor, both those guys are great, and I have talked to both of them on the phone and email and they have been more than helpful when I had questions.
